this actual changed with ableton adding max4live directly into ableton X, ableton is now a lot faster and you dont notice any performance issues, when a max4lve device is launched now.
(max runtime is now installed with ableton installation),
have not touched bitwig in a long time and i dont bother anymore too. Ableton X has made lots of new features finally available the community was begging and the GUI is for me still easy on the eyes compared to bitwig. (my personal opinion)

Understand me : i do like Bitwig as an Ableton alternative. Like i LOVE Usine... but i don't see any movement. So i dropped the ball.
HOW they will program, without a big sells boost ?

I remember something : when Ableton 9 was out, Reason 7 was out around the same date.
Guess what ? NOBODY cared about Reason 7, apart hardcore users.

It is going to be the same about Bitwig : as long as they concentrate on protection and pricing , INSTEAD of fame and net activity ... no sales boost.
Like Reason, since their dongle. Witch mean no free content, made by ppl with pirated versions. No presets, no forum activity, no Youtube vids...nothing.

They pretend piracy kill their products ? No problem.
Do BIG protections, whereas others get their products pirated 0 day ... and sell more than you.

U-He found an intermediate way : you can use pirated...but if you make money, you'd better buy products ;)
PS : Cubase is very well know and respected. But now look on sister site HOW MANY cubase releases (presets, tutorials and such) compared to Ableton ;) Global net activity is MANDATORY nowadays.

I tried bitwig studio out but only a demo of version 1, I didn't explore it with any depth and I'm set in my ways with Ableton Live and Pro Tools, However I couldn't agree more that competition is the best possible thing that we as user's of audio software should always want, As soon as a monopoly is in effect then the least amount of new features will be seen and at best the odd bug fix will be rolled out.
Competition is our best friend and thank fuck it exists!
All the best and cheers to everyone as always

  5. I'm gonna give it a try now that it is available from a trusted source. Does Bitwig sound better than FL Studio (just flucking around)?

As a positive plot, i will say Studio One was supposed to be dead in the water.
And FL studio was supposed to be a "toy".

Now see their sales rate ;)
Time will tell for Bitwig. But for now, i don't see any trend. And i wonder HOW many time they will keep coding with so few sells...

@Mynock Reaper is NOT a live DAW by any stretch of mind
Compare Bitwig to Ableton or Usine

Man I love it. It's much better than version 1. Workflow is amazing and those modulators are sick. I have no problem with skin, I am comfortable with both Ableton's skin by PureAV and Bitwig's theme. From Ableton, I miss some important things like Sampler/Simpler/Drum Rack and Warping engine (These are best in Ableton). If Bitwig improve it's sampler and warp engine like Live, it will surpass Live. Obviously my personal opinion.

She got killed during the Battle of the Seven Potters, innit.

Just tried it again. Seriously. As a successor to ableton Live it's still a total fail in every aspect (workflow, ergonomic, logic, intuitiveness). Right now it's a toy. Sad. Maybe next major version...

Dubstep artist - Xilent makes music with this toy. Similarly KSHMR uses Live and produces great songs. You can make songs in both DAWs if you know how to. Maybe that's what are you missing in yourself.

Well, it kill Live to death in these aspects. To understand logic, we need to have a well functioning brain.

Reaper is SuperDAW. Competition is between the rest.

I totally agree, but when I mentioned Reaper I associated automatically with my main activities, basically creating music for low-budget games and films!

This Playtime VST makes heavy use of the REAPER extension API... as you can see, Reaper is extremely flexible due to codification with which it was built... Freacking Awesome!

Understanding such things as Call and response, masking and counter-melody will make track-delay and track-freeze to appear in some magic way? Or what? Superiority means that something will include all existing features plus new but not the castrated feature set with "epic modulation" and ability to open clunky mixer in arrangement view. Sales talking a lot about it's superiority.
    Who?
Few remixes was produced in reason. Let's glorify reason.

Anyway i didn't notice that it's you again. BB.
