I Miss him, is really putting it mildly. I have one thing to say. If Trump had to deal with the economic collapse that Obama had too, he could not. This man Mr. Obama and my President Forever, was no average Joe. He was very smart and, thought thoroughly before he acted.
So compassionate, caring, wanted the best for all U.S Citizens ( Skin Color Omitted ).
Say want you want, he helped poor white people also. He also admitted he had made mistakes and he was not perfect.
That is what you want as a president, for our kids to lookup to.

When I first heard that track on the OST of some American sci-fi program, I could see the man that was singing it in my mind's eye. It came as quite a surprise to discover he has blue eyes.

The real master of funk, in my opinion is Mr Niles Rogers. Who definitely has brown eyes. The BBC just did a three-part musical biography of him. You might find it on BBC America at some point in time. There is a musician who has walked the walk without ever much talking the talk, and this program is essential viewing for any lover of funk.

Thing is, the seventies is gone. And we live in a world where the borders and barriers of musical culture have just got up and gone their own sweet way, without the midwives of history having much say in it, at all.

When Niles Rogers produced Bowie's Let's Dance, his biggest all time selling single, he asked Bowie if he thought he'd made it too funky for him. "Is there such a thing, darling?" Replied Bowie.

@midi-man Great post. One of the most underrated bands ever. In the 90's Baby Jean and the band even made a sort of metal album... My fav tracks are their funkiest, as always

PS: Funny thing about the second vid "Everybody needs somebody" from '83, the poster is a close friend of mine and purveyor of anything funky just like me, he didn't know about Mother's Finest, i gave him that record some 5 yrs ago hehehe.

 

Yes Another Mother Further was my personal fav. I was totally blown away by this album.

 

I think i should mention the funkiest white gal to my knowledge. The ivory queen of soul as some called her, Teena Marie, gone too soon at the age of 54, may she rest in peace.

 

To me funk is a very narrow band of music, defined by the likes of James Brown, Maceo Parker, Mother's Finest, (occasionally Earth Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder). Call me narrow minded, but I'm old school ... and let us not forget Tower of Power
