I need a lead sound (amp/fx plugin preset) to put on a clean el. guitar (recorded and/or fake). I am after a Satriani summer kind of lead guitar. ATM it doesn't have to be anything "perfect", just kinda..
I have Amplitube installed - if someone knows an already made preset or another quick fix.

IF getting it very close, assuming you have the right guitar and pickups, is important Blue Cat Destructor with tone matching might help.

 

Dragonhill is on to something cool (per usual), but what kind of guitar are you playing with what kind of pickups?

Have you search a "satriani" preset for amplitube ... ?
I´m sure there must are tons in the web
If you search a little, you can also find wich gear satriani used & his adjustements with ease, so you can emulate it with amplitube.

But i suggest you to try overdrive+Wah or phase-flanger
maybe you like it,

 

Definitely ask a guitarist to record for you, as the technique is really effective in the sound you want to get, specially for Satriani kind sound. Also, first go for miking an amp with distortion out of the box, then go for inbox setup if you can't. Because the fingers touch sound for the Satriani kind lead guitar needs a crancked amp.

Guys, you are an "overdrive" of info.. and that's why I love this place <3!! I did not get through all of it yet, but I am thankful for any and all of it. Maybe my "Satriani sound" request was a bit deceiving as I just wanted to describe this (non jazzy, funky, bluesy,..) cut-through, fat but smooth sound I admired, when he still had long hair (on the sides).. ;)

Definitely..! fortunately my best friend is a pro guitar player and when I'll finish the composition I'll definitely give him a call, a beer or two and an hour to "warm up". I will also give him all the above info! He obviously has all the gear - "the real deal", the amp/fx sim box w/ wah pedal on the floor (that we usually used, for convenience - can't remember the which one though). In the latter scenario I always also recorded his guitar clean.. but he usually does not rely or care about ITB stuff. ;)

@dragonhill, thank you! I would never thought of Blue Cat's. I'll see if I can get out something quickly. Otherwise I'll try it when the real guitar comes

But to speed things up, my wish was to prepare a track for my buddy, to see what I am after.. and I was hoping somebody came across a "larger than life" solo preset on the popular vst's that came out lately as I don't have much time and I am a moron when it comes to details that you guys know so much about.. (I can play for you anything from classical on Fazioli to Stevie Wonder clavinet-- lol)
