would a hackintosh laptop (hp 4530s) perform the same as a macbook apart from the few well known problems? (ie bluetooth)
ive heard macbooks can be unplugged as their playing something in ableton and they simply pause and wait for reconnection, unlinke windows that would need a restart for the firewire driver etc., is this the same for a hackintosh? cheers!

Works only with latest retina macbooks and only when spent at least 100$ in app store purchases owning at least 100 shares of AAPL!
You should not remove your FW Audio Hardware during playback or do you mean the power cable?

I have a custom made install of the original dvd to make it work on my own custom build pc (i7 with 16 GB and SSD). I have installed a mac keyboard with shortcuts for logic even have a mac mouse installed. I can tell you that OSX will see your pc as a mac and therefore it will not make any difference i tested it together with a friend of mine who has a macbook pro there is no difference in speed but his laptop screen is far better in resolution compared to my pc. OSX is just a unix based OS if a linux install will work a OSX install will also work. I can give you one tip in order to keep everything fast, just keep windows and osx separated don't even copy from your windows drive and you will enjoy OSX for a long time. Every form of windows integration will make osx slower. Don't integrate NTFS into the OSX environment it don't work as fast as a HFS+ partition.

The laptop you choose an i3 ?????? I think it's better to have an i5 with 8 gb of mem and make sure if there is a good setup for your computer. Once the install is done everything will be just as normal as a MAC (tested it).

But the new macbook pro line with retina display blows the windows pc of the market. There is no way to compete with that.

so damn fixed on their phonez and tunez expect the end of apple personal computers era - the pro apps line will only be updated to run on their latest shitos ... no new features - all dev teams fixed on appstore and itunes ... and glueing of course. apple plans to upgrade humans retinas so we can enjoy their hires display technology in near future - finally

That's why I never buy a mac. The way I think of it, they screw the buyer. When it works it's a fine product. But when something is broke you pretty much better get a new one. A friend of mine had his macbook pro broke and the repair bill was 1700 euro's. For that price he could buy 3 notebooks and install hackintosh on it. I did the same thing, but I modified the original one. and I have a i7 processor and find a way to install a SSD driver so OSX is really fast on my hackintosh pc.

As far as hackintoshs go, I look at it like: Desktop Workstation = Hackintosh. Mobile computing: MacBook Pro. Just because the design and built quality of a MBP is just so flawless. It just feels very good. Plus, the display of a MacBook is unmatched - especially the new MacBooks with the Retina Display. As far as Specs goes, sure you can get same specs cheaper with a hackintosh, but as far as user experience goes, I think no notebook can compete with a macbook.

BTW: I cannot confirm what you say about Macbooks and Ableton Live under OSX
