I've tried pitching cowbells, agogos, anvil strikes, pots, pans, various metal objects. The closest I got was using Ableton's Frequency Shifter Device on the Clank01 sample attached that I found in Korg's Wavstation. I've searched tons of my samples and I don't have anything close. I programed a somewhat likeness in Microtonic, meh, not the same. Thing is, I swear I've heard it somewhere else before so I thought I'd post it here in case some says: I know where that came from. It's from X drum machine/sample pack/synth ect.

    You'll hear it twice. :winker:

If you're talking about that very first sound in "I'llpunchthis..." it's probably a snare maybe with claps heavily high passed.
If you're talking about that off beat sound, you are pretty close. You just have to lower the attack sound, for instance with a transient shaper and give some reverb/early reflections.

Maybe take a look at Twisted Kit EZX, expansion kit for EZdrummer2.

That Berimbau sounds pretty cool. Never seen it before.

@No Avenger, it's the higher pitched off beat sound. I've come close, it' just not the same. I don't even need the sound, yet, if ever, I just need to know what it is because I'm deconstructing a song bit by bit to learn from. That small sample is filtered to hell to bring out the sound in question.

I'll check out Twisted, I have it somewhere I think. Who knows, maybe that's where I heard it before.

    Thanks.

it does sound quite layered ..like the clank part is a cut off sample of striking a grunt grade small diameter metal pipe !

sometimes you might have to use found stuff around the house to record and make a layered found sample... then tweak it..

you never know what you might come up with.. and you might like it better

then again you just might like to get down to the sound of the berimbau
    or even a kalumbu

Now that I think about, I think SoulFly (Sepultura's Max Cavalera, ect) used one of these berimbau. At least in their first album. It's been a long time since I've heard it, or them, though.

Haha, they're jamming out in that vid. Little guys funny.
