    Y'all

    Something I've always wondered...

What is a good commercial PC speaker that's readily available.

I need some reliable grot box reference PC speakers. I have auratones but I'm talking that shitty PC speaker sound.

Is there an industry reference for PC speakers? (no not those apple's that Bob Clearmountain uses cause I can't find them anywhere!) But something along those lines would be good...

Do you cross ref on your PC speakers?

How reliable (translatable) have they been?

    Cheers

    TS

I don't have computer speakers. I use Munrosonic Egg 150 and a crappy monospeaker instead. The mono speaker is for referencing. If the mix sounds good in it I know it's all good.

The Appledesign powered speakers can be found easily on Ebay.

I used to have a pair of Logitech Z623. they sound great for everyday listening. Now I use monitor speakers and mixing headphones.

    Altec Lansing IML227 Orbit USB:

I bought this little speaker for my wife so she could listen to music on her laptop. I ended up using it as a reference to check my mixes in mono and they are excellent for exactly that. It sounds like shit but gives you a really good idea of any elements in your mix that are getting lost either because they are too panned out in the stereo field or need a little compression. Very useful little tool.

Tannoy PBM 6.5. Really old, but work very well.

  12. Before I bought my current monitors and began the second incarnation of my recording life, I had these Altec Lansing A5650-R speakers. They had no real high end to speak of, but if someghing sounded good through those tney tended to sound good through everything else. They were a long term borrow.
