#savecakewalk is trying to pick up steam. Go vent or make suggestions or woo a company to acquire it on twitter. Share, like & retweet. Let's at least get it trending. With enough eyes on the issue maybe a solution could present its self.

I have been seeing this crap for years may I remind you

- Nothing Real Shake- taken over by Apple, Windows version killed then linux version killed then OS X version killed
-Logic Audio, apple buys it, kills the WIndows version an then forces everyone to buy a Mac ( F OFF MOFOS)
-Commotion - Killed
-Matador system
-Electric Rain Swift
- Discreet Combustion - Killed ( interfering with higher end products
-True Space - killed ( in Some studios this is still being used with source code modifications!!!)
- Softimage ( kiss Microsoft's ass for starting the war against Maya and leading to these apps on normal PC's) killed by Autodesk

I can name 100 ground breaking applications killed due to Financial reasons, either monopoly reasons or stupidity.

Cakewalk was my first Daw along with Cubase VST v5 ( early 2000's)

It's sad but the Reality is when 1 company buys products that have nothing to do that company only as a way to use it as a piggy bank to finance themselves this is the end result.

I really liked the direction of Cakewalk Sonar was taking getting more closer to the Openness of Reaper.
Sad but with Gibson in near bankruptcy this had to come

 

I would bet dollars to doughnuts that Cakewalk will, be taken over by someone. Hopefully by someone with a positive
and foward looking approach.

I dont use tweeter LOL .... But hopefully Cakewalk get saved, and drop the subscription system.

 

Actually that system was pretty good. Nobody was forced to use a subscription. This was just an additional option. It was still possible to just buy Sonar and never pay again...

 

i did not made a sound into Sonar but frm what i saw it was a pretty solid DAW, and the way it looked lately with all the plugins integrated into mixer was pretty awesome ...i really thought it will have a great future but this i did not see it coming ...it sad to end like this, at the same time i hope someone open minded take over all this ...wish best of luck to all Cakewalk team!

 

Gibson have gone too far. My concern goes with those people who were brought into "Lifetime Updates" in recent years, and Gibson ceased it? Just like that?? This is a very much serious issue. Unjust treatment and oppressing kind of authority exercises. Imagine if we are one of those "Lifetime Updates" subscribers... rage...

 

Gibson killed it...just before Christmas.

Now, I finally understood what was the "buy Sonar and never pay again" campaign, for the simple fact that you will not need to use Sonar again.
But kidding off without jokes away, this current system of music is not sustainable, there are billions of artists relegated to being their own fans and listeners because there are not billions of listeners, not even 100 listeners for billions of artists. In short, within a while, everyone gives up pretending to be artists: expensive microphones, dedicated computers, varied software, all stranded. Within sometime everyone leaves the amusement park of the world fair of implementers. And thereform the companies close.
Major Lazy & DJ Snack and congeners (for counting on industrial dollars to push their wonders of repeated seasoning) will still hold out for a little longer.
But the future of music as we know it is uncertain. As uncertain as it was for the silent-film pianists of the distant past century.

I become an "universal communist" the more i think in a "radical thought". "Radical" in the sense of "root" "source"...
At the beginning of humanity, everything was single. No division.
There was no "artist", no "worker", no "bankster" (LOL), no "hunter"...

Every man was an artist. And hunter. And husband ... and more.
After that point, everything was separated, cut down, split...
What we call "Civilisation", you know.

(I can speak about world downfall due to mondial dept for hours...but this is not the point here. Just understand things are going to be WORSE all around the world)

So yes, almost all artists are NOT going to survive WITH their art.
BUT they will still be artists. Because everyone is an artist. Yes, i know, it is hard to swallow (especially for me who spend years master guitar and computer music). But it is because we see "art" as a form of "mastering" something. But it is NOT : it is our fundamental "being" expression.

We can think we deserve to be an "artist", not others. Just because we are thinking in a capitalist/merchandising way.
BUT everyone deserve to be an artist. Just don't care about money and you will see what i mean.
At the end, it doesn't matter HOW you express. As long as it is your way of being.

I totally understand WHY so called artists are just using capitalism/merch to pretend being artists...but it is only a side effect of capitalism/merch. In this capitalist/merch world, EVERYTHING is money. Even art, babies, s3x and more.

Only what most ppl call "Love" (witch is, in fact, "Universal Unity" as a whole ("art" included), not only two ppl) can't be bought.
Sorry to sound like a 60's hippy, but that's the only way to understand the current world situation

They gave up on all their products (no update anymore), except Strobe (which works with the roli hardware thingy). For Geist2 they just release expansions, they don't seem to develop it anymore although it's buggy as hell for most people. Strangely I personaly don't have complains about it, but if you check the forum regarding geist2 it's a complain festival, the guys at FXP used to answer and reassure, not anymore. Not a word in months. Geist2 was released too early, and I'm guessing they knew they were about to be bought but they wanted to make a few bucks before.

 

yes and those geist expanders they release now are just pointless mini packs. not the large, exciting ones of the past

 

I hope you're right. On most top DAW lists it usually lands around 4~8th place. Usually edging out Protools by 1~3 spaces. Be ashamed for it to just die.
