Yes reaper is cheap and small, and gives update for free. But I can't work with reaper because of the GUI and UI, it isn't as neat as cubase. For some simple things you should do lots of things. As others said, let's stick to the op!

I usually fuck with sound design a lot and I have never needed more than 8 plugins. If I ever did I usually resampled/bounced which is actually better than loading a shitload of inserts on the same bus or channel because most times they are automated and I don't want to stand in front of too many automation tracks for the same channel. Helps with the workflow as well.
I understand that people might be ok with it, although as I already said I personally don't think it's fair to charge money for these features, because to me it isn't really a big deal but it's probably because I've always been used to have them.
But hey, from what you're saying Cubase users are ok with that and are satisfied (not sure if that comes from being used to pay for .5 versions) so I don't really mind since I don't even use Cubase anymore.

Just updated from 9 to 9.5. I think this upgrade is pretty good compared to the usual history of cubase upgrades. You can say there is much developmental evolution involved in terms of bug fixes and new features which could easily be a new version. I've not used it yet to form an opinion but by watching videos on YT and reading announcement on Steinberg forum, I'm happy for my £51 investment.

Regarding other daws rambling, I know Reaper proudly owned some of those upgrade features for ages but it doesn't make Reaper/Cubase superior as Reaper is more audio oriented while Cubase is midi. Clearly, their philosophies are different so devs tend to work in different directions for their daws to evolve. Both are mature daws, superior in one thing, inferior in other. This is not a diplomatic verdict because I know Reaper's might for being in-debt flexible despite being cluttered. I also know how creative and robust Cubase is to jot down an idea to completion. And for all that, I myself will never be ditching Reaper for Cubase and vice versa.

I only use Reaper because my friend is almost 50 years and doesn´t want to buy any software for only tracking guitar tracks. I always finish the songs in Cubase because I know it best and have been using it more than 20 years.

I always say to people, why to learn write with your left hand if you already know it with your right(of course, it goes vice versa with lefties)
I hate this DAW comparing, as much as I hate the Win vs. Mac conversation.
Use whatever rocks your boat .period.

Comparing is a people's trait. You cannot avoid it. You can only expect people to justify their opinions (which they don't always) so the discussion remains healthy. as for the 50 yo thing, age is not an issue. I am 51 and fluent with at least 6-7 different DAWs.

Great call! The version is buggy as hell. We are easily beta testing it atm. They changed a lot, graphics, features, all really really nice, faster, snapier, it's gonna be fantastic once they sort out the bugs. But ATM is crazy. I am telling you, amon other things, I lost undo/redo mixer in both 9.5 and 9.0.30 after this update. Have to reset cubase to get it back just to loose it again after a while.

Interesting that it fucked up 9er as well. 9 works so well for me, gonna love the additional stuff in 9.5 though, so far impressed by the update.
Let me know if you fix it.
