• It is now possible to zoom to (and back from) time selection in Arrangement and in Detail View. This feature can be triggered with the "Z" and "Shift + Z" respectively, via the View menu, or via a context menu item.
• It is now possible to zoom vertically and horizontally in the Arrangement View, using two-finger trackpad gestures or a mousewheel. Pressing "ALT" (Mac/Win) while scrolling vertically zooms the amplitude/pitch axis of the selected track(s). Pressing "CMD" (Mac) / "CTRL" (Win) while scrolling vertically zooms the timeline to the cursor position.
• On U.S. keyboards, it is now possible to zoom by pressing "+" without using the Shift modifier key.
• When time is selected within an Arrangement clip, Detail View's display now zooms in on the selected time.

then there is max for live which can do literally everything, even a completely different piano-roll or mixer.
most of the time if i need a feature from another daw, MFL has something to get me there.

 

199,- € is a fair price for an upgrade. It's commercial business software and priced accordingly. If you're an amateur, maybe you don't need the suite. I, for example, don't need the microsoft office enterprise package...

 

well it's still by FAR the ugliest f'ing daw in the world.
Kinda annoyed by that... they need some skins that arent just different color themes.

It's not enough for some ppl. Because when they see how comping implemented in logic, they want EXACT THE SAME implementation. They can't even imagine that some things can be done in a different way with the same result. Most people still have zero clue what is ALC, ALS, why they should learn how to use it, and why this is overkill feature. But who cares. Monkey saw modulation in bitwig, monkey want exact the same modulation in live.

Same. I like the simplicity and the fact that they managed to get away with it for more than 10 years. The minimalistic approach was what conquered me back in the early days. I remember the first time I loaded Ableton. A MIDI track, an Audio track both with 2 sends, a Master track and nothing more. An empty white canvas. Coming from DAWs like Cubase and Reason it took me a while to find out how to use the native devices and what they do.
This is where most people will get divergent opinions. I know people who refuse to use Ableton just because the channels are displayed on the right in arrangement view.
I kind of like the GUI overhaul they did for Ableton 10, the roots are still there. On the other hand, I can't stand Bitwig's GUI and they aren't that different. Ableton feels more professional, Bitwig for me feels like a subpar "eJay like" software when we all know that Bitwig is a very versatile DAW with limitless options regarding signal paths and modulation. Regarding visuals, it all comes down to personal preference.

In Reaper normal left click & drag to select doesn't work, it's right click the exact opposite behavior of every program out there. But ya, you can cook together 3 scripts and a toolbar button to solve that...NOT!

Yes Live 10 looks great especially Max native integration which is what sets Live apart from every other sequencer in my opinion. Sure in Reap you can program midi devices in Eel but they are butt ugly like they were programmed by a kindergarten kid. Just wished that Max worked in Rewire slave mode...
