As stated in the topic title, do you think the one exludes the other? Did your make some test? How does them sound? There is the master buss stuff also to add for both plugs.

I was not talking of NLS alone by the way... the question is if it makes sense to use both Waves NLS and Waves SSL channel strip on the same channel (eventually for all the channel) and same with the master buss.

I use NLS in every project I do. Prefer to use one of the Signature Series plugs tho (Maserati, CLA , JJP etc) instead of

SSL. SSL series does not address the 'summing' issue in DAW's. NLS does.

If it sounds good to use NLS and G-Channel then do so by all means. Their are no rules. Whatever works and sounds good for

you is OK. My 2 cents :D

I would definitely use them both on the channel, but since NLS is a bit too aggressive [noisy], I would turn off the "analog emulation" [noise] on SSL-G. My rule is to have only one plugin in the channel that produces noise. Well, most of the time.

Regarding NSL, I find and use Satson channel better. I mean, it's more subtle, somehow just the right kind of subtleness for my ears, at least. ;) However, I must tell you that when I make a submix through the outboard console, it sounds more like NLS - not so subtle, but just right, too. ;) So NLS is definitely sounding more like a real console. In the end it all depends on what you want, of course. You should know how everything works, in depth, and then decide what you need, and how much of it. ;)

    Cheers!

Agreed SineWave, NLS has achieved the 'real console' feel and sound. Adds warmth and glue to the mix.

    Take Care Bro. *yes*

    no overkill

spike on the nls is a ssl4000g emulation,so it makes absolute sense to use a ssl emu comp/eq

NLS is not aggressive at all. It requires proper gain staging as the meters in NLS aren't VU!!!
I personally think the whole Slate plugs are just nice interfaces.
There was a nice shootout on Gearfutz between real SSL and several desk emulations.
At the end one guy found a golden solution:) : gain staging on each channel, NLS spike with very little drive, all this into NLS nevo with drive at 6 into S1 imager :excl:
