Berlin-based Native Instruments has announced a €50 million investment from private equity firm EMH Partners.

NI says that the funds will be used to accelerate international growth, as well as the development of new digital services, and ‘to unlock the future of music creation for all music lovers’.

NI released a statement with the news:

Over the past 12 months the company has made key hires in Berlin and Los Angeles, including the former CEO of Beatport, Matthew Adell. These specialized teams have commenced development of new digital services, designed to redefine the landscape of music creation and the surrounding industry over the next year.

Technology has democratized music making over the past two decades; what was once held exclusively by recording studios is now available at home. However, Native Instruments believes the market potential for music creation remains untapped; and there is a huge opportunity to improve the experience for the current market.

The company plans to unlock the future of music creation for all music lovers.

“Native Instruments has written a remarkable success story since its foundation over 20 years ago, and we are now ready for the next chapter,” said Daniel Haver, CEO of Native Instruments. “By developing intuitive and powerful products we’ve empowered music creators globally to further realize their potential. Today we’re seeing demand from increasingly diverse market segments, which opens enormous potential for growth. With EMH Partners we have a strong partner at our side to exploit this potential.

I hope with the money they'll finally make Kontakt 6 and Battery 5.

 

You think we need that though??

 

I can foresee NI doing sites like Soundcloud meets Facebook that have all the tech on them to directly create your tracks and have it online in seconds, with ebay/Amazon style instant marketing for very cheap per track. But if many of us are already shunning the Adobe CC and Miscrosoft 'cloud' model...?

Sounds to me like NI is entering the DAW market.

 

EUR 50m is a heck of a lot to try and make back in this game in my view!

 

Of course we do. Kontakt is pretty much the only decent,yet somewhat simple to use, sampler outside of Ableton's Sampler and Simpler. It needs some updates tho. And Battery...well if they add a goddamn undo option, maybe it will finally be useful...

Yes but mention to me what you want in a new kontakt, everyone wants new things when the old thing is already working like it needs to. Sometimes things get boring i get it, but you say it needs updates, give me one good thing kontakt really needs? Battery i never really use so not much care for me there..

 

Kontakt needs to lose Native Access.
Battery needs a sequencer.
And computer keyboard MIDI.

Kontakt needs to be "Falcon like". To be more scpecific, it should be something like "K6=K5+Falcon"

About Battery.
1)To add a seq will be a big mistake. B4 is a great "Electronic" Drum/Percussion Sampler. No more, no less.
2)I hope B5 will be much more lighter in GUI and loading cases. Who need those glittering and shining cell? I don't. It's the tool, it should loading/opening stuff as fast as possible.
3)Also it would be great to have an ability to take samples from monolith kits.

And there are dozens of other little things, which could/should be fixed/added.
