    Rack
VCV Rack is the engine powering VCV modules. Add modules, connect cables, edit parameters, and save/load patches. Create generative patches with your mouse, perform with your MIDI keyboard controller, or connect it to your favorite DAW using the Rack Bridge VST/AU plugin (coming soon). In Rack, control voltages and audio signals are equivalent, so you can modulate parameters with sonic-range VCOs to create customizable FM synths or chaotic wave-shaping oscillators. If you already own a modular synthesizer, you can enhance your setup with an audio interface supporting CV signals (see [1] [2]) or a CV-MIDI-CV interface module with Rack's CV Interface (coming soon).

Includes the Fundamental plugin pack with 8 high quality analog-modeling sound generators, processors, and utilities.

    Audible Instruments
Based on the Mutable Instruments Eurorack modules, Audible Instruments gives you a collection of complex sound generators, modulation sources, sound modifiers, and signal utilities. All modules which are based on real digital modules are ports of their original source code, so generated signals are faithful to the hardware.

    E-Series
The E-Series plugin features a port of Synthesis Technology's E340 Cloud Generator, a VCO capable of fat, chaotic, and swarming sound with up to eight combined saw and sine oscillators detunable with a spread parameter and filtered noise.

    Befaco
Includes Befaco's EvenVCO, A*B+C, Spring Reverb, Mixer, Slew Limiter, and Dual Attenuverter modules, with DSP measured from hardware. Rampage, VC ADSR, and Hexa VCA coming soon!

  4. There is a ton of work that went into these from all the creators involved and is incredible that this entire system is a freebie.

this thing is wicked. and its getting better every day.
git activity is pretty nice and new modules are released almost every other day.

    check http://www.switchedonrack.com for recent updates.
(and of course yt,reddit,fb,twttr, discord also have growing vcv communities.)

for example patches there is now a subsection of patchstorage dedicated to vcv rack (link).

    happy patching!

It's getting really exciting with all the 3rd party people making modules.

Just noticed the quiet release of Joni from ArableInstruments.
It's a fork of Audible Instruments 'Texture Synthesizer', based on Mutable Instrument's Clouds.

    Features:

Implements the alternative modes and quality options of Clouds as a menu options
Inputs and knobs for the 3 addition 'Blend' parameters (Stereo Spread, Feedback, and Reverb)
    Dedicated Freeze button

DAW integration is being worked on and will come in a future update.

I tend to just record it with my Zoom H4nPro recorder and pull it into Ableton later. Works for now.

Finally something to repl... actually complement my beloved VAZ modular. :headbang:

This is gonna be a software synth revolution, kinda. Love it!

I play it with my laptop, through a console, outboard and into Reaper on another comp. Feels almost like the real thing. ;)

edit: btw. Linux version works great and it seems more optimised! :P They are developing it on Linux. Take that Microsoft. m|m

Can someone please lend me a helping hand?
I'd like to know how to make some of the modules from github work.
    Example: http://www.switchedonrack.com/jw-modules-gridseq-and-simpleclock.html
From there I go to Github: https://github.com/jeremywen/JW-Modules

Now I've downloaded the files as a zip file and unpacked it to the plugins folder of my VCV Rack Installation.
I've installed MSYS2, but I don't know if I really need it for plugin building.
    And now I'm stuck here:
    https://github.com/VCVRack/Rack
    Building plugins
Be sure to check out and build the version of Rack you wish to build your plugins against.

You must clone the plugin in Rack's plugins/ directory, e.g.

    cd plugins
    git clone https://github.com/VCVRack/Fundamental.git

    Clone submodules.

    cd Fundamental
    git submodule update --init --recursive

    Build plugin.

    make

The underlined commands above? Where to write them? I have no idea :dunno:
I'm even unable to overcome these problems by reading topics here https://github.com/VCVRack/Rack/issues

Well I hope someone can help me, I'm feeling so dumb right now!

@complete bro, if you're on linux, it will be a snap, cause will already have a dev environment, osx may depend on some parts xcode and the command line tools, where you're going to hit those commands, windoze, i don't have any idea man, probably msvs studio i dont know.

msys2 is only needed if you want to roll your own binaries from source code.
if you're already struggling to set up a build environment you should probably go the easy route:
download and install the official build of vcvrack.
then grab the binaries of jw-modules from github (though not linked at SoR) and put them in rack's plugins folder.

here's what i got in the box: vcv.PNG

on the bleeding edge side of things there are a couple of new features in rack: like zoom and a few modules that aren't available as binaries, but many of them don't compile right away.
so, not worth your time if what you really wanna do is patch away.

    seriously folks.
are you all playing with vcv rack 24/7 or why is this thread so quiet?

this wins my audiosoftware of the year award. easily!

    so addictive.
spending hours hooking up all the weird modules until at some point it just plays on its own.

development is pretty fast, 0.5.0 is almost ready and once it's out a lot of new modules will be released.

vst bridge is planned for 1.0 i think.
