Clicked the link and, Imo, there are Reaktor ensembles that autogenerate more interesting "music". Just don't forget to use a good reverb...

I like how Monument Builders has that Twin Peaks vibe... It's hard to not want to capitalize on that progression... that minorchord thing where you go back and forth from the fifth to the sixth note, while holding the minor third.

 

here's the problem with your views on this. When you take "these" kinds of artists... the ones that do this "boring" shit for example (or perhaps any style that doesn't entertain those with mainstream tastes), and you learn about the artists' setups, their years of experience, and possibly education... you quickly see these aren't random, skill-ridden, listeners of Skrillex. They are actually quite intelligent. At that point you have to ask yourself if WE (the ones that listen to this "boring" shit) or you, the ones that think it's lame.. you have to wonder which one of us is MISSING something.

You have not looked through my eyes, from the point of view of enjoying this stuff... but I HAVE looked through your eyes. There was a time... back in highschool, or junior high maybe, when I thought ambient music, and even electronic music in general was total garbage... boring, "easy" to make, and stupid.

At some point I allowed the boundaries which governed what I define as "good," to slowly begin to grow. It's never conscious I suppose, it just sort of happens... hopefully though, it's NOT because someone you think is "cool" happens to like it... cuz THAT doesn't count. THat's what mindless girlfriends do. and well, average grade schoolers.. and of course those that get into drugs... like, "now that I smoke bud, I suddenly love Bob Marley and The Dead, and Sublime, etc".
