Hopefully the robbers feel the wrath of God soon.

It is unbelievable to suppose that there is someone who believes and lives in a colorful and completely fanciful world.

It's very Christian of them to hold those views.

I struggle to agree with them, even though I know they are on the moral high ground. However, I respect their views and think more of them for them, not less. I am not a classically religious person, even after having spent most of my early life in private religious schooling it never stuck, but I still admire people who can see the world in a such beautiful and calming way.

I have always had a great admiration for people who can see the good in everything and I think that they are people to emulate not denigrate.

    This world is depraved.

    I hope you find peace.

I probably shouldn't be typing this but I go vigilante on unredeemed scum with an unloaded Glock.
    I can't kill anyone.
I can put the fear of God in them.

    And I'm still alive.

Wow man, thats just...*<all possible imaginable curse words go here>*
    It's really awkward to hear such a thing, and almost incomprehensible that such a thing happens this day & age;
to someone , well, i was tempted to say "close", ...However, we might have never spoken, never heard of each other, and live in opposite parts of the world, this still is merely a community, it still looks closer than you'd hear it in the news , read it in the papers etc...but no matter with who and where, thats way out of line.
I cannot comprehend what drives a human so far to threathen a young boy in such a way.

And about your son, don't immediatly think the worse, when unusual things overcome one, and you live to tell, i think you come out of it stronger & smarter.
For example, when i was 13 i was diagnosed a rare form of hodegkin cancer, agressive, doc's gave me 10% of survival with chemo & isolation. even had relapse 1 month after the whole ordeal when i was 16. Kinda forced me to skip my youth somewhat, but made me who i am today.
And i've stared death 2 more times in the eyes ever since, (a heart attack 2 years back due to heart muscle failure as a side effect of the past chemo, and attempted murder on me by my mothers ex-boyfriend) my life's been a rollercoaster of turbulence, bad lucks 'n wrong timings and even wrong girlfriends. But here i am, 32 still smiling and thankfull to be alive.

I hope you and your family may find peace, all the support needed, and that justice (or karma, whichever is first ^_^ ) prevails, so that you all may live a calm normal life.

Remember, Karma has no deadline :)

GET A GUN. GO TO THE GUN RANGE.

If true, like some of the go get a gun, become a murderer and get put away for life for being worth less to society than the kidnappers, or executed depriving a family of a father and husband it's a terrible tale and example of the sad state of affairs some parts of the world have come to.

But a question, as a protective father who has never let his child roam free, even to school, why was the op sleeping at 6.40 am when his son was 2 blocks away at a bus stop? Night job?

This additional explanation of yours now makes a lot more sense. Your first post was kind of ambiguous, thought it was just another rambling but now i see you have valid arguments.
I agree with a lot and understand your point of view.
Perhaps i was also too quick with my assumptions.
    Cheers bro.

I want to thank each and everyone of you for you support and compassion. It was very positive and healing to read through all the replies. Much appreciation to all your heartfelt thoughts and prayers.

I am very thankful and very lucky that my son and family are safe.

For those that wanted to know the place where this incident took place, it happened in the City of Albuquerque in the State of New Mexico. I moved here a year ago due to my 7 years old daughter suffering from a terrible eczema. I do care about my children and willing to do the impossible for their sake.

At the time of starting this post, there was lots of anger in me and really didn't know what to think to the point it felt hard to breath.

I did have a long conversation with my son and family, even the little ones . We came to a conclusion that moving would be the best idea. I did quit my job and took all day taking care of preparations for moving within few days. I will be staying with family and hopefully can find a place soon. I hate to be a burden on others but I have very supportive brother and sister in the State of Minnesota that I am very close to. We had a deep conversation me and my son explaining to him that these experiences makes a person stronger. I told him how proud I was when he got his mom and sister to safety. Many people will be so scared to think logically in those situations. This made things easier for him, I hope. We also talked about getting him into self defense training programs when we move and settle.
Today, he seems doing much better. He went to school to say goodbye to his friends. He has more friends in the state of Minnesota that he is excited to have around again.

I am still undecided, to be honest, about having a weapon in the house for protection. I can't imagine myself harming someone let alone killing. It's a scary thought and I wouldn't want to be in that position. When it comes to someone harming my family, it makes me feel that I must at least get a pistol. I am not thinking about it now. I will wait till I get there and think about it deeply.

So far, I heard nothing from the police and I don't expect to hear anything. I am not against cops or try to undermine their efforts. I have a friend he is a police officer. My only complain is about the police force here in Albuquerque. They don't have enough and seem not to care.
Bye the way, I live 2 blocks from a very popular military air base, imagine that. That's one of the reasons I chose to live in this area thinking it should be a very secure place.

@Aliens , yes my friend it's a night job, but no more.

This will not effect the way I think about people. I am sure there are more nice and wonderful people in this world than bad people. A good example is this wonderful community.

We all can make a positive change in this world starting with ourselves and loved ones. I do my part in raising very well behaved and respectful kids and teach them to respect the elders and treat the youngsters with kindness and mercy, no cursing is allowed in any form or shape and be polite to everyone. Don't judge others and treat them the same way you like to be treated.

My family and I are very thankful to all of you and remembering you in our prayers as well.
Love and peace to you all my dear friends.

Glad you didn't see my question as judgemental. I feel your dilemma. We do what we have to in order to fairly provide and protect that and which we cherish. Sadly, in this world, we often come up against those who are not like minded.
I hope you and your family find some way to get over this, knowing that extreme elements are part of our society, but hope you all realise they do not define us and dictate our existence.

@asad12 Sorry you all had to endure this terrible experience. There is only one thing I'd like to add: Physically moving to leave things behind is only one step, emotionally leaving things behind is another and requires work. Your son should see a therapist because you cannot move away from the harm his soul sustained and you or your family cannot be his therapist.

    1. Don't aim at a man with gun unloaded.
    2. Don't aim at a man with a loaded gun if you're not prepared to pull the trigger.

I don't say you should use a weapon, that's you're decision but if you do it you should do it the right way and be aware of the consequences.

I love guns, but ...how would OP having a gun help here? Should he have sprayed a few mags into the general direction of the leaving car, or just popped a few rounds into his neighbor's house, since the robbers have kthxbai? Or should he have given it to his 13-yr.-old kid? We're talking handguns here, right? I mean, what grade's 13? Middle school? Don't think they let kids carry AKs/ARs, am I wrong? For a handgun, would you suggest concealed or open carry? What kind of a holster do today's 13-yr.-olds go for? I mean...
