I really have to thank you again for posting this. I've been playing with these everyday since and even finding myself realling digging the sound of putting different eq's on a channel without making any adjustments. Each one really has a special characteristic that works for different soundsources. Mix game level over 9000

    Thank you my friend. :mates:
It all started with the LCF, i totally forgot i had it installed, just randomly wanted to see what it was and was blown away.
His EQs are top notch as well, that is my personal opinion, quality wise its among the best plugins i have tested.
And as with any tool, dont matter what you use, stock plugins or high end analog boutique stuff, its all about the end result.

I've been messing with the compressors and they just sound amazing. I have so far replaced Softubes FET with AO Fetish, Elysia Mpressor with the OSS comp, and now the Lindell 7x-500 with the Brutus. I'm getting a certain attack and release that I don't get from my other comps, and the Analog Obesessions have a nice tone as well.

When I flipped between the OSS and the mpressor I was able to hear a really bad honk-ish tone from the mpressor. No wonder that the mpressor has an eq in there lol. But really, the AO plugins so far are just sounding more real. I've been using them on my drum busses and after a few settings I said out loud "Yep, that's how it's supposed to sound."

I remember hearing about these on Gearslutz a while back and a lot of people complaining about gainstaging, but so far all of the plugins and controls have worked just fine. No trim needed before the plugs, and i'm easily going from 1-2 db of compression up to pinning the needle. I wish I tried these out when those first few threads were popping up.

Now to try the Holycomp on my parallel bass bus, and start to try out the eqs as well. Let's see what else I can replace in this mix haha.

    @Von_Steyr ,
My main boys for mixing are from Acustica, respectively Titanium2, Magenta3, Pink Channelstrip, Aquamarine, Navy and Amber.

I'm still amazed about how great these plugins sound and also how the core engines has been upgraded over the time, bringing cpu AND features + sound improvements which still I don't think that it will be surpassed nor equalled that soon by the different big names.

Btw, what studio monitors do you use?

Just signed up to say thanks for turning me on to these Von.
I don't usually buy unless there are AAX of a plugin but they wrapped and run in PT fine.
Even though I wont use them all I bought the bundles just to support the dev.
Maybe they make AAX for all plugins one day!
<edit> Yes I know there's AAX for MAC but I'm on Windoze..

Quick tried some eqs on high gain guitars, but to be honest i dont liked that much...used LCF and SEQ on a kick drum and liked a lot... where and what you guys are using the eqs with good results?

I have EAQ on the mixbus right now. BXQ on overheads. Ended up with NVTQ on the drumbus. And PEQ on the guitars.

I do have some issues with the link functions. I also can't load these inside of Patchworks, which is disappointing.

Any chance of getting these to run on High Sierra? All the plugins just display a white window in Reaper, except for 2-3 of the EQ's.

'distroying' is very though word ...the compressors are pure bullsh** ...eq's on the other hand are nice but they are not distroying in my opinion

I have to agree on that. I was saying that I'll be keeping Fetish, but it's not really good at compressing. It's a good tone box. Trying to compress with it, gets weird real quick, that's not how these things suppose to work. Every other compressor is godawful, not even good as tone saturation things IMHO. And they're behaving really not how they are supposed to. Broken meters should have been a red flag that the compressors are also broken.

Eqs probably can be useful, I'll have to get back on that one, but again I think they are weird. I've tested SSL and Neve EQs and they weren't doing what I would expect from that kind of EQ, hard to explain. They weren't highlighting frequencies well enough, it was kind of a smear.

Overall it was pretty disappointing, and you know, gotta warn the newbies who think that they're onto the next best thing since sliced bread because of this thread.

    Agreed!!!

:excl: WARNING TO ALL NEWBIES --- Do Not Purchase Or Use This Sh*t :excl:

As a UAD, Waves & Slate owner... I can tell you these AO plugins come no where close to their quality.

Just because someone sticks a broken VU meter on a plugins GUI doesn't make it an analog emulation.... these compressors are laughable at best.

After the compressors, I decided to try one of the EQ's (waste of time).... then just deleted them all from my HD.

Seriously people there are much better plugin companies that can give you actual value for your money instead of this sh*t. One company that springs to mind would be 'Klanghelm'.

Tested fetish along Tim Petherick`s u76 Nebula comp on drums and they are very close sound a like, to say this compressor is useless is just not true.

So far tested three EQs, bax, fiver and pure eq and was really impressed.
Guy knows what he is doing.

Ignorant statement. Let the people demo their plugins and let them decide if they like it or not.
Other than that, i respectfully disagree.

Tested a few of these plugs but frankly - "This guy is destroying Slate, UAD, Waves....." might be a little exaggerated.

Can we come to this agreement: They´re pretty ok, and that´s it??

ok there's lot of commucation about UAD ,Slate etc
but c'mon a lot of great mixers are mixing in the box now ....
ok the recorded tracks they received are already great and recorded with analog stuffs
andrew sheps , mick guzauski etc use uad , sonnox plugs ....
of course they do lobbing for companies but if those plugs was not efficients , they didn't use them .....

Nope, i'm giving my own opinion and fair warning to anyone who doesn't have the luxury of comparing these plugins with UAD, Waves & Slate as they might not have the funds to afford them.
You saying 'This guy is destroying Slate, UAD & Waves....' is an ignorant statement. :knock: :deep_facepalm:

@Von_Steyr knows how to sell a thread. ;)
And I'm glad he does because I would not have clicked on a thread with the title: These plugins are pretty okay.
If you really want an unbiased title I'd go for:
These plugs are not without their issues, but they have a wonderfully unique character in an increasingly homogenous plugin world.
    But that's too long. :P

    No.
Are you even aware that people on this forum probably own more plugins than the average GS user base? Except for UAD, everything else is fully available on the sister site and people can easily compare it.
As @returnal said i like to write audacious titles, to get it going. Of course its a bold statement, thats the point.
And yes, tonally wise for example, Slate EQs have smaller tolerances and go harsh faster than AO plugins, that goes for most other algo plugins.
AO stuff can go one on one with some of the best emulations out there.

BUT, i can understand why people have a problem with his comps due to some bugs, incorrect metering and gain staging, but you can still hear the big potential of his comps. , sound wise there is something more going on compared to typical algo plugins.

I strongly disagree with that, just used an Eq and with a touch it opened my guitar sounds

Tunca is working on releasing V2 of his plugins, fixing several issues including metering.

And his version of LA2 will be free.
