Ok, I gave Filteq a quick run, and I gotta say I'm sold. My rationale is simple. When I use Acqua or UAD stuff, I go for a quick wow factor. I know that after some work, almost any filter will yield results, but I really value those plugins that deliver almost instantly. Filteq does it. I tested on a drum bus and just around +6 on 12k gave the cymbals a nice sheen without harshness. The low end got tight with just a few dB around 270 Hz. I still have to floor it and see how it responds, but on a first try, I am really satisfied with it. It delivers.

For those curious about SKnote I'll quickly add that on top of STA Level and Disto, I'm also constantly using and loving Soundbrigade (genius plugin), C165a, DDD and EQ1.

WHY NO PROTECTION FOR PLUG-INS?

As you know, one way or another plug-ins will be cracked… So AO doesn’t need protection. And protection systems loading extra CPU usage. After searching,i noticed that users hate protection systems! Briefly if you are loyal customer,you can buy plug-ins. Pirates will steal plug-ins anyway…

Its funny how one "simple" filter can replace a number of plugins. Just inserting the plugin and not moving anything, just leaving it on, from slight compression, pleasant harmonics, saturation, analogish filtering, tames the digital highs, i am seriously impressed. Best to test it with good headphones so you can really hear whats going on.

 

Thanks. But IMO these VSTs are very rough. IT's like EQuing with an axe. Check the LPF for example.

 

Yea LPF is rough, hence i will mostly use it as a HPF for my needs.
Its a tool like anything else, when you need it you use it, no philosophy there.

As I'm at this moment on my way to working 14 hours a day in the middle of nowhere for the rest of the week I won't get an opportunity to test these demo versions and decided what I should buy while the sale is on. I'm thinking I'm in for 3 or 4 of them at this discount, and trusting y'all to give me the lowdown on which I should pull the trigger on. Probably 2 Comps and two EQs . . . or whatever stands out as unique and/or superior to what else is out there. Any and all help, suggestions and opinions appreciated.
