Most of the clubs are still mono. so this may be correct for soundtracks. but not for music in generall.

Tracks have to be mastered for vinyl after that.. all good. This is why u getting up to 4 different versions of your track when it get´s mastered by a professional (and if you are willing to pay for)

+ the title "Vinyl hype is destroying the record" .. ouch .

    sry.

    cheers

Very sad reading that, i used to work in a vinyl pressing plant in west drayton(thats near to heathrow airport for any non uk people) when it was owned by WEA records. I used to do the test pressings, that meant doing about 20 copies of a record to be sent to the artist or the record label for final approval before doing the release pressings. Was a cool job and i used to get to hear records before they were released, :)

Index, everything I'm saying is from the article. I think, from reading the article that because the majors have caused this new hype and demand for records, demand is such that the little vinyl production houses can't keep up with demand; taking the big jobs from the majors and making the smaller labels wait a long time. If the small DJ lables who specialise in vinyl can't get releases out they will fold. The article states that the majors have closed all their own vinyl production presses, and there are only a handful of vinyl producers left in the whole world. The processes requires specific skills, knowledge and experience that cannot be easily acquired.

missing something? that's not what the page says, just someone announcing soundtracks for assassin's creed games on vinyl.

i can see why, some game soundtracks are masterpieces.

It's strange that the major labels would be paying for advance booking of independent production facilities, when it would seem that they could pull their old pressing equipment out of storage and fire 'em puppies up. Maybe I'm naïve, but they should have the investment capital to do so, or to supply their own pressing facilities - and to take in business from independent labels.

(The plural form of "stylus" is "styli," by the way.)

They *could* do that i am sure, but why not tie up the production facilities?, less competition for you, when the smaller companies who don't have any old production equipment can't get product made to sell at all , right?

indeed.. if you are in "business" you always need to keep scalability in mind.. those who are in position to produce and meet demand.. will be the ones to survive ( profit )... simply the nature of business itself

And buy very super expensive platinum wires with high end quality crystality of sound. And don't say you hear the huge difference, because your passive crossovers on your speakers divided by usual cheapest shitty wires huhuhuh))

All this is meaningless unless you're using AudioQuest Titanium grade power cable and chain of power conditioners.
