@Von_Steyr : Well, i voted alright but the thing is, MS will most probably have a new OS before some major DAW drops Win7 support. And with win10 having been the failure it is, perhaps this will be much sooner than everybody thinks. But to be honest i don't think for a second, a new "Win11" will be better than Win10. Imho they have all their attention into how to profit from personal users' stats and info with no regard to privacy whatsoever. I only wait for a better server version perhaps with no Telemetry at all. Yeah i know wishful thinking hahaha. And please everybody don't start me with LTSB and blah, it still sucks in everyday usage, plus it looks like win95 in high res.

Somewhere, someone is taking the best of the win OS and creating an android like freeware that will be tailored for the DAW environment.
Im tired of Microsoft as well, this dependency has to end, we are like fucking hostages here.

 

Word. I'm tired of MS as well and just waiting for a better alternative and in the mean time 7 and even 8 work just fine. I build computers that last 10+ years, with quality components and people will be making music with them and W7 well into 2020s. ;)

But as I said, more and more of my clients demand OSX and I can't blame them, so I deliver. It's a very viable alternative for now. Not much better, but better.

dude, if you want privacy dont have a smart phone, dont have the internet or laptop or computer, these are OPPOSITE of the what the definition of "privacy" is haha
I don't believe in privacy. the only thing i can see privacy used for is doing things you don't want people finding out about . you should be proud of what you do , and being proud means happy to have it shared and known about because you are doing the right moral thing.
I think the super rich have too much privacy the mob like governments have too much privacy to cover up things they dont want people knowing.
lets do away with privacy so they cannot be hiding away doing these things and controlling people then covering it up.

 

Well... Von Steyr is technically correct from a certain pov. This pov says Intel has had the upper hand the last 10 years (up to last year when Ryzen was introduced). And because CPU for the most part it has been a one company deal for both Mac and PC, Intel has been giving users slight incremental upgrades which are just complete ripoffs grabbing people's money by making them constantly change mobos etc for no apparent reason. I mean WTH my mobo had 16 pci lanes 10 years ago, where the fuk is the progress ? In x99 and x299 chipsets ? 40 pci lanes,+4 for the chipset? DMI restrictions ? Infinite incompatibility within their own ecosystem? what a fkin mess i say. AMD Threadripper shows a clear path to the future, if only it wasn't for the weaker single threaded performance and lack of Thunderbolt due to partial Intel ownership. But it's just getting started.
So excuse my AMD favoring atm, but since Intel has held the pro and consumer side of the market in computer cpus, the evolution has been slow, especially the last 5 years. So yes slower

I have an ipad and i love it, easy and intuitive, blows away any other tablet, but for serious work i need serious, reliable stuff and win 10 really didnt convince. Its not that im avoiding it because its newer its just so sneaky and unintelligent. Would i use it? Yes if there were no other options but as long as i can use 7, i will.

Also (EDIT),if this was , lets say a next day law, in the real world it would only apply to the average and the poor as it has always been. when you factor in every variable i couldn't possibly call that a "small" difference, i could only call it "massive" difference.

( you cannot do anything with each these cpu by themselves they have to be put in a system, and when yo look at the performance of what each cpu's compatible with the over all performance is massive difference.( i used to own a 3770k was great for its time but nothing like running my new system with i7 7700k and all new mobo tech.)

when you look at all specs and especially the 6700k overclocked it destroys the 3770k( whole system vs whole sys)
