I have not been able to find out how many voices this thing has, if it has 8 (or more) that would be great, if it has 4, not so great.

 

Given that it's just running digital software and computing power has moved a long way since the 80s, I daresay it'll (should) do hundreds of voices.

 

I think I remember the vid saying it was 4 voice, but u could chain them together for (ie) 8+ voices.

 

Roland probably brainstormed how to make the most amount of money for the least effort before developing the boutiqe series

The D50 has 16 "voices" (32 "oscillators"), no matter whether it's:
- Hardware D50
- Hardware D550
- Hard/Software VC1
- D50 Cloud Plugin
- D50 Boutique

So, 16 voices in 1 layer mode (two oscillators), 8 voices in 2 layer mode (four oscillators).

Today i tested a few of those lil machines. Some are shit, but some are absolutely awesome. The knobs are really small, look like toys, but for playing with it at home or in your lap, those are real instruments

So yeah, pack a full synth in your bagpack for 400-700 bucks each. If money is not tight, its totally worth it

 

Where did you test and which ones are good and which ones are shit?

 

the sh is like sylenth with fewer controls and a sequencer, any ipad music app can do more then this, but the compositon of the controls, the sound and filter, everything seems right

there were many synths in that random music store so i did not only try this

But nothing is as cheap and instantly usable as the sh roland except maybe this with lots of synth presets, pocket grand piano
