With its grill-cloth glistening in the bar-light as this beast muscles out power chords in an amaranthine haze of smoke, hot lights and adoring fans... this cab positively reeks of rock... the raucous, beer-soaked, unapologetic kind. Why use “God’s Cab” (v1.3)?

1. It sounds great.
2. It’s free.
3. The samples are 100% phase coherent. You can mix any of them together with minimal phase issues.
4. It comes with Axe-FX ready .syx files.
5. It comes with unique IR’s that utilize a TS9 (see Tube Screamer section).
6. The impulses were made with great gear by cool audio engineers.

Signal chain:
Sine sweep (sent from Allen & Heath Zed R-16) --> 6505+ power section (FX return) --> Mesa OS cab --> various microphones --> Allen & Heath Zed R-16 pre-amp --> Voxengo Deconolver software.

How to use Impulse Response (IR files):

Download a plug-in that can emulate a guitar head, or record a guitar head direct in (do NOT plug speaker level outs into your mixer! (Note that a tube amplifier must be plugged into a speaker cabinet at all times, you will need a load box to run it silently).

Sound design elements created entirely from recording the mechanics of the Roberts 1630 Reel to Reel tape recorder. The source recordings are of the switches, motor in play, fast forward and rewind, fan, latches on the cover, and of course the static from both speakers and I think just some general banging around.

Smear

Smear is a granulation effect. It offers the basic parameters of sample-based granular synthesis, only the "sample" is a (maximum) one second buffer of incoming audio. Four grains are created from the input, the sizes of which are random values between the minimum and maximum grain size controls. Individual level and panning controls are provided for each grain.

Smear also has a feedback control which is the level of the granulated signal that is fed back into the buffer to be further granulated. Thus, as a mult-tap granular delay Smear produces interesting results on a variety of inputs.

Further, smear offers a selection of the popular window shapes (Gauss, Hann, Blackmann, etc.) plus some non-standard shapes that produce more glitchy or percussive sounds.
