Thought this was pretty cool. This just proves us musicians are very open minded when it goes for different genres, talent is talent, period.

    She digs Judas Priest :metal:

Level of musical talent level on display in all of those bands is immense.
Some legendary songs there for sure
Had the privilege of seeing both Megadeth & Pantera some time ago live a couple of times and was awesome :like:

    @Von_Steyr

    Cool reaction of them.

You can shock almost everyone with the Priest song, even metal heads.

When I heard the Painkiller song/album for the first time I couldn't believe it (can I today?).
Back in the days I tried to count all the different guitar and vocal tracks - I failed :-(

Yea, painkiller was a special experience for me as well. Saw it on Mtv in 96 and was blown away.

I was literally raised on Slayer, Megadeth, Exodus, Testament, Metallica, Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, Death Angel, Hirax, Carcass, Napalm Death, Terrorizer, Morbid Angel, Decide, Obituary, !Manowar! through to Wu-Tang Clan and the solo stuff the members did, Nas, Mos Def, A Tribe Called Quest, Cypres Hill, Public Enemy...etc. and the shred beasts like Jason Becker, Paul Gilbert, Joe S and Steve Vai, Marty Friedmann and Jason Becker together we're incredible, So many sick players from that late 80's/early 90's shred fused with classical and plenty of other inspired chops, Alex Scholnik a prime example. I'm a massive fan of James Murphy, He's a DM legend that is sorely underatted, Shame he hasn't had anything stable in his career band wise, Howeve that's the case for plenty of brilliant musicians. So yeah that was my childhood amongst plenty more I won't bore people listing and elaborating on, but to give an idea of what a young me had on cassette and vinyl in many cases.

I didn't keep up with hip-hop, The last hip-hop I liked and one of only few real brother's still around being none other than DMX, I'm just hoping he stays healthy now and doesn't end up buried early like far too many in that area and culture end up, He seems to have pulled himself up and out, The stuff that passes for hip-hop nowadays to me just doesn't come anywhere close to touching anything like say Enter The 36 Chambers or Illmatic, All the rapper's are wearing skirts and dresses...etc. just weird and looks as bad as their music sounds. I'm sure their are some fine talented people but I'm not involved in any hip-hop underground scenes to hear them whereas I am when it comes to metal, So it isn't me taking a jab at hip-hop, Just what is presented from the so-called "popular" mainstream.

Interesting thread and indeed, Greatness always recognizes and acknolwges greatness, At least it should do.

All the best to all as always, Hope you are doing good Von_Steyr my friend, Cheers

Yeah continuation of Megadeth theme -> I followed Marty for many years since he was virtually a kid with Jason Becker in Cacophony.
He obviously an insane talent and always was but for any fans definitely check out his newest album and latest releases.
He just seems to get better & better & his song-writing and ability is just plain scary lol

If you've not heard it & like his stuff then give it a listen

There will never be another band like Pantera, the songwriting skills, the energy, amazing guitars/solos and powerful drums/vocals.

Sorry, WINNER given for vids of Phil too! Haha!
Cemetary Gates is a badass tune! I really liked Pantera. That high harmonic guitar yank at the end where Phil hits the same note raised hair on my neck when I first heard it.
I really dug the first Down album too. NOLA I think it was.
