    Jeez.....:woot:

is this funny=? hmm....yes it is
(edit) actually this is sad and hilarious (edit)

The app, which touts more than two billion downloads and over two million active users according to parent company Avast, was infected with a malicious payload that made it possible to download and execute other suspicious software, including ransomware and keyloggers.

Hm... interesting... I would do this :

    1. Download the free version
    2. Block it from Firewall (Inbound and Outbound)
    3. Register it with a key  (to make it Pro)
    4. Install Distill Page Monitor for Firefox and set it up to monitor the website for website for updates (which will then notify you to download)
    5. Download the latest update and apply

That way you keep OFF the automatic update and you keep the Pro version all the time ;)

I would use MacOS.....sorry couldn't resist. Figures a anti-virus company would get a infection. Sucks though, that was/is my go to for removing excess garbage from PC. Guess it's time to rethink that. Maybe re-visit Glary

between the equifax hack and piggy-back malware loads like this one, it will not be long before the entire financial system comes crashing down. buy as much as you can on credit now, because soon credit records will be meaningless.

those Russians have their dirty fingerez everywhere, not great at all!

About Avast, those guys have gone down the drain years ago
Had to remove it after years of use because the nagscreens came up way too frequently

Id actually paided for some german antivirus, which was even worse

Nowadays its not so easy to get infected anyways so i surf without additional protection
