Btt everyone. please. Currently the thread can be saved still.

Music always reflects the time it was created in. As such, modern music is cynical and superficial. But also in the eighties not everything was about groundbreaking thoughts or future-shaping experiments. I remember THE song we all lost our virginity to. Foreigner - I wanna know what love is

It's just cheesy, has no deeper roots, isn't intelligent or experimental. But you could get the girls - that made it a hit ;)

But it sounds very good, high production value. :)

In the eighties, children spent their pocket money on records so a lot of money was spent to promote it. Nowadays children get music for nothing and spend their pocket money on video games. You only have to shift a few dozen records to get to number one. Art has nothing to do with it. It's all about commerce.

Aye it does sound fantastic and it's a great song. Nile Rodgers produced it, and his name is synonymous with high production values in my opinion.

Very true. If people can forget the song itself and concentrate on the production, they will notice the depth and warmth that's missing in a lot of today's music production.

Though the song does have certain sincerity about it compared to a lot of shit that was floating around in the 80s.
Van Halen`s pretty woman is such an example and im an early VH fan.
Bands in thee 80s started to put more energy into the visual appearance, because of Mtv a lot of bands sold out and im glad this vile network is so unimportant today.
Its like the whole western society was mesmerized by the tv box, that was the ultimate entertainment and because of it so many posers wanted to be next Eddie Van Halen, Prince, MJ or "any succesful artist" and im kind of glad that there are cell phones and other shitty gadgets, because it makes us musicians and producers more of a rarity, thanks to progress we are now the real deal, haha.
