Is it only me or was the music and music videos of the 80s sort of more futuristic and artsy than anything we get served today?
I mean look at this killer production and arrangement is just out of this world, especially when the big drums/percussion and e. guitars kick in. 10/10.

No don't think it's just you .....Everything changes and the world moves on.
Whether the result is more geared to your own sense of taste is a different matter though I guess.
The music industry is also hugely dynamic in every aspect of course also.
Meteoric rises in say independent productions and certain capabilities have possibly changed the focus.
I think in say the 80's a music video was a huge thing with regards to pushing sales hence big budget, artistic videos were more widespread possibly. Nowadays the "music video" is not the same focal point or sales pitch that it once was maybe.
I suppose the important thing is to consider whether the musical content itself is "better" or "worse." :dunno:
In reality there is no better/worse but simply more or less appealing to our own sense of taste.
Personally speaking, I also prefer the guitar sound that characterized the 80's in say some of the rock or metal videos that showcased hugely talented musicians stood in front of a wall of JCM's......Loved the reverb and characteristic tube distortion

Some say everything moves in circles so who knows......Maybe 20 years or so we will find ourselves surrounded once more by that type of artistic, big budget type of video :dunno:

I "secretly" really dug Duran Duran back then. I say secretly because I was a heavy rocker back then, so couldn't openly admit it and ruin my rep . Ratt, Ozzy, Dokken, etc. I just thought the bass and guitars in Duran Duran always kicked ass. I loved it when the Taylor brothers did the Powerstation gig as well.

The Pleroma is a great band from Kyiv. Their music is a blend of post-punk, shoegaze and indie rock with lyrics in Russian. Unfortunately, The Pleroma seems to have disbanded last year.

Interesting thing about that "wild boys" vid: The computer animated head is taken from the movie "lifeforce". A cast from Captain Jean-Luc Picard alias Patrick Stewart.

Man, please observe the rules. We're all friend here. His music rocks. BTW, we need your energy to fuck the mainstream together.:mates:

One day, the biggest issue of 80s' artists was the political constraints, unfortunately they could not survive and prosper and left the scenes, now it's our responsibility to have full-scale confrontations with the universal aftereffects of those policies.
