WD Ships 12TB Gold HDDs

Western Digital has expanded its WD Gold hard drive lineup to include a 12TB capacity model. The new model sees a launch price of $521.99

The WD Gold hard drives are designed to store users’ most precious data. Designed for heavy-workload, high-vibration server environments, the new drives have a reliability rating (2.5 million hours MTBF) that is among the highest in WD’s hard drive portfolio. The drives utilize Western Digital’s 4th generation HelioSeal technology, which seals helium in the drive to help provide exceptional capacity, reliability and power efficiency.

I was thinking of something along these lines but I honestly thought we would be much further along with SSD size and pricing by now. I'm tired of hearing the low level rattling noise of even the best enterprise drives. As it is I keep them in another room via TB cable. But I've bit the bullet and started collecting SSD's to replace the enterprise storage entirely. Not very cost effective at all but I'm compelled.

 

The dream is having these HDDs on low price. I don't know why the developing in these fields of technology is so slow.

I could be interested to have it as an ext hdd. What is the right case for that? I have thunderbolt on my mac

 

these have been rumored for some time.... well now they have come into the light of day..
pricey.. but let's a wait a while.. maybe next year it will be in a comfy range... for now this is a first adopter's price...
a bit dear .. but I'll be waiting..
