    Hi everyone,

I have a question. Does the legit Kontakt 5 (full version) run libraries that don't have .ninct files? The libraries that don't have .ninct don't have copy/license protection, to they?

    Thanks!

I don't believe they do, legit kontakt 5 uses encryption methods to see if a library is bought or not.

How, though? I bought some libraries that don't have a .ninct file, there was nothing to indicate that they would be protected...

Yes it does. Runs probably 99% of libraries absolutely no problems at all. The only libraries that will demotime- out are those libraries that are encoded into nkx & nkc i.e those libraries that you have to add to the library tab through a nicnt ie Player libraries. Fortunately the vast majority of libraries are not player libraries as the developer has to pay NI a large sum to encode the the samples and provide licences. Encoding adds around 40 dollars or so to the price of a library per head and therefore developers do not encode.

    That's completely untrue.

NI cannot determine that and no encryption methods are used outside player libraries. Most libraries have no serial, no encoded samples and nothing encoded that could determine whether a library has been purchased. Legit kontakt runs the vast majority of libraries regardless of whether you purchased then or not

So is it possible that when you go through the new NI add library feature in their updated service center of Kontakt 5.6.9 that NI collects your data and sends it to the companies to let them know they have a user that has cracked libraries?

Also for those libraries that are encoded into nkx & nkc isn't their a way to export them into .WAV files and save all the patches anyway thus overriding the nkx & nkc scheme?

Doubtful as kontakt only inserts reg data into registry when player library is added through the library tab. Use Regedit to check if you are in doubt. Native access scans the registry I believe and there is nothing contained in non player library folders themselves that can identify a library.
Therefore 3rd party libraries that are non encoded a perfectly safe to use and the fact that you are using them is irrelevant. Also what is NI gonna do? Would cost them a fortune to have all non-player libraries sent to them for discrete tagging and it is the DEVs themselves that implant watermarks but that is only to detect who is responsible for uploading the original library and non important.

I'm not 100 % on the decoding of encoded samples. Yes it can be done but you will need the algorithm used for encoding or key etc. People claim to have done it but as you know people sometimes claim a lot of things
Some say they have had good results with 3rd party software such as chicken sys but I am unable to vouch for the validity of their claims as never done it myself.

You can however open the nkr of an encoded library no problems meaning you can access the resources folder etc

    Yes.

Protection is only applied to libraries to discourage piracy.

Found a solution to my issue. Here's a tutorial:

HOW TO USE A LEGIT (PURCHASED) LIBRARY IN AN UNLOCKED KONTAKT

I decided to write this tutorial after I’ve spent quite some time trying to get my legit library to coexist in peace with my other (unlocked) libraries. The specific library I have purchased requires Kontakt 5.6.8 or later, so that was one of the issues I had to overcome. I found a solution, that works.

    1. Download and NI Kontakt Free Player
    2. Download and install NI Access
    3. Register and add your legit library to Kontakt Free Player via NI Access
    4. Install NI Kontakt Full (unlocked) 5.6.5
    5. Use only the AU plugin (or VST if you’re on Windows) to use with your DAW - don’t overwrite the standalone Kontakt 5.6.5
    6. Use the Kontakt 5.6.5 standalone to add unlocked libraries (even if they require 5.6.8 - they’ll be added, they just won’t show up in the standalone app)
    7. Use Kontakt 5.6.8 plugin in your DAW to use your legit and unlocked libraries

    Good luck!
