I think the OP was referring to DAWs, but even plugins can only be given as much functionality as the software is capable of anyway, so it's the same. But, yes I agree. But if you think about it, DAWs and plugins are really only emulations of real-world production, electronic studio equipment, which was always complicated anyway. Some real synthesizers are actually blindingly complicated to learn anyway, if you really want to get into learning how to create sounds from scratch, instead of using pre-made patches. Instrument emulations like piano, guitar, orchestral instruments have the same complications as their real counterparts and obviously musicians who can play those instruments will be grateful that all that is possible in the real one is now also possible in the emulation. The DAWs and plugins are now able to do pretty much everything that could be done on a real studio console - people who want to be studio engineers have to study and get qualifications in some cases, or learn it all over years of working in studios. So, what we're realising is that the real versions of the studio equipment are quite complicated to use. The emulations were only simple to use in the early days because they didn't yet have the full functionality of their real world counterparts. They become more and more complicated to use as the developers make them like the real thing.

Music production is getting complicated. Producers and engineers need such complications today. People love Reaper and DMGaudio. But there are many great 2-3 knobs tools, use whatever you like. You can't make serious dubstep track with sylenth today.

The problem is that people think they have to know how to use every single tool that is available on the sister site. You just need to know your tools well, it doesnt matter which route you take, there are many that lead to a pro like level.
The more important part is to work on your arrangements/song writing skills than to test every plugin/library that gets released.

Bullseye, Von_Steyr. People should learn how to make a song before anything else and you don't need much of anything for that.

There is something to the OP's post, though. I have a feeling software developers are adding all kinds of new features, thus making the software more and more complicated, just so they could say "we have a new version" and what really bothers me is that they don't pay as much attention as they should to bugs. One of the examples, IMO, is Amplitube 4 with it's recording features. I mean wtf? I can record the output from Amplitude 3 into my DAW just as easily. Stuff like that... Or FXpansion Geist. It's a DAW within a DAW ffs. All I need is a drum machine with multiple outputs like Battery or Nerve. Then Reaper... omg... just look at all those menus! They make it hard to find stuff that really matters! :( /rant :)

  7. I too have the Polytune clip on version and as well bought one for my daughter to use for tuning up her violin. I am craving that Peterson and I guess I'll get it one if these days, but my next priority is putting together a proper pedalboard, and my first priority for this priority is a great power supply which is not cheap to do it righteously.

I thought it was ridiculous and childish of him to discard the plugin just because of the analog knob.
IMO its one of the best plate reverb plugins.

I seriously hate this guy. His tryhard attempts at being edgy only make me cringe, and he complains about software not working for him when he clearly never reads the fucking manual or tries to understand what the plugin is about - just an idiotic teenager bashing products for attention. He's everything that's wrong with youtube presenters.

As to OP... just don't use those plugins. Or read the fucking manual. You might not but some of us really do look for precise tools for sound processing. I find that plenty of options tend to be a hindrance when you're trying to be creative and work fast, but they are great when you are looking for a very particular sound or effect.

I totally disagree, If that anolog knob does nothing in every setting possible.

analog can mean a lot of things, I imagine it kicks in on a certain setting

Agree, the plugins nowadays are getting crazy. Though I had trialed a few plugins and I'm now settled. Switching DAW's and plugins all the time and trying to learn useless shit is what I did alot. If you find the software you use complicated, ditch them, grab the easiest one and stick with it.

It's a waste of time learning overcomplicated software. Making a proper track that tells a story or is interesting too listen is actually the hardest part of this whole music thing.

DAW's are hard to grasp on, same for some plugins I own. I had to learn them, Reading manuals is good practice. So stick with the plugins you like and the ones that are the easiest for you. At the end of the day it are all 1's and zeroes anyways.(<all plugins sound more or less the same)
