Right after I installed these 2 Kontakt versions Ableton and use them in a project -when closing I get the -as it seems- all too well know error message "Users\Appdata\Roaming\..\Preferences\Undo.cfg" cannot be deleted" and right after a window telling me Live cannot access the undo history and is switching to memory-based undo, in effect no longer being able to recover sets after crashing.

I then delete the Preferences.cfg and undo.cfg files in that folder and I can restart Live and new versions of those files are being created and the circle is repeated.

As far as I can tell this is a well-known error between Live and certain VST's. I found some threads mentioning Positive Grid as a notorious candidate for this but in my case those are fine but not Kontakt.

Reason I installed this portable version alongside of my 5.5.2 version is due to some libraries not activating (both old and new ones) and I ran out of scenarios, options and available tools like MINI-NCINT, NI-NicntGenerator and KLM 3.0 to activate those libs.

I must say this portable version is a Godsend. No longer activating the libraries and all but one which wouldn't activate before are now done. Also I like you can run these 2 instances of Kontakt simultaneously.

Still I'd like to get rid of this issue. Does anyone have an idea how to address this?

Some additional info: Win 8.1 (64x), Live 9.7.3 (64x), 16GB RAM, Seperate SDD/HDD's for OS, projects and samples and I installed the portable version on a non OS-drive (had to since it didn't work on C:\ as others have noticed as wel).

    Much oblige.

Check to see if you have ownership and full access, permissions-wise, in all the Kontakt directories.

I do (the "regular/installed" version is running fine) and as far as I can tell the portable version hasn't created any new folders other than the E:\ where I put it in and all under a systemwide admin account.

Well, in the end things got weirder and weirder. Probably because I deleted the VstScanInfo.cfg as well aside from the undo and preferences files. So VST's didn't load properly (which were part of my default template) and I decided to do a clean install. Problem solved.

So nothing to pinpoint the issue to but I did notice one strange thing. In the Appdata\folderpath there are folders of previous Live installations and the latest was 9.7.4 (!) even though I never installed it, had auto-update off and was/am om Live 9.7.3. Maybe someone else can make some soup out of this ;)
