Evidently this wasn't the first time Texas flooded. But man it sure seems bad over there.

My thoughts are with them and I hope all remain safe. I won't waste my time on prayers.

The worst is that the most damage goes to the poorest again...

This is what happens when certain Someone in the White Office is too busy measuring anatomy parts with certain SomeoneElse in North Korea instead of assigning Emergency Response Committees in suffering areas...

    Be safe out there folks...

What about letting people on a public forum respond however they like..as you did with your omission of prayers like anyone really gave a shit about your personal opinion, support is support.

Anyways thoughts annnnd prayers here to "everyone" going through any hardships or catastrophes in the world.

p.s btw topic nazi that's all i have to say here you're free to vent or post to anyone who will listen have a great day.

An 'earnest hope or wish' is also a prayer. The religious don't own the term.......

Texas got walloped, I really feel bad for them. We had Sandy here and that was a mild storm compared to this.
Don't get me wrong, Sandy did a lot of damage but Texas got it 80 times worse. I feel bad for those people. I hope they get some help.

    Don't pray for Houston, act.
Give the money you saved on warez to red cross.

Why pray a god who, per definition, is omnipotent and omniscient and thus, let this shit happen ?
Either it exists and it's a mad sociopath who laughs at your prayers or he doesn't. So, give your money. Don't have money and live in the US ? Go there and lend a hand.
Don't have money and don't live in the US ?
Then keep on making music, it's all good.

Holy shit @Mix101-- does your dwelling have water damage?

It's a classic case of privatize the gains, socialize the pollution and devastation caused.
The greedy bastards that build their oil rigs 91ft above sea level, anticipating the rise and hurricanes worsening, have anything to do with this?

    Answer A:
    --------

    Good. I'm glad.

In so far as it will make people think about things differently.

Shit like this goes on around the world everyday and our eyes are closed to it. Everything changed after Katrina.....oh....no it didn't. Fool me once.....

    Texas and hydrocarbons. Shock!
    Texas and inequality. Shock!
    --------

    Answer B:
    ----

How awful! Hope everyone is ok. What a nightmare.
    --------

Who doesn't prefer Answer B? Everyone does?

beings with empathy will wish the best for the innocents caught in the floodwaters.. they don't make any policies..and have likely lost all or most of their worldly possessions and comforts...we can only wish..and I wish the best for them..
I am thankful to not be in their circumstances..

We have been told by climatologists and meteorologists for decades that the cost of moving away from fossil fuels will be small in comparison to the cost, both monetary and humanitarian of ignoring the science of global climate change. Yet, those with vested interests in maintaining the status quo keep telling us to remain calm, these are just anomalies that occur all the time. Tell the people of Texas that this is normal. Tell them to stay calm.

Honestly... deeply ask yourself... what is the point of opening a thread to say "thoughts and prayers?" Does it really mean anything?
Ask yourself that... or is it about your already established behavior of *virtue-signaling.

Of course anybody would hope for the best for not only Texas, but all humans... PERIOD... So what are you accomplishing by opening this thread?

Honestly?.. that's not rhetorical... offer an explanation about what the end result is supposed to be... cuz as I said, do you not think that WE ALL hope everyone on earth survives ALL hardships?

I love Anthony Jeselnick's bit on "my thoughts and prayers"... and the *virtue signaling Twitter culture.

"Thoughts and prayers" is about, "hey look at me!!.. look at me... I matter too... or hey look at me, Im virtuous... I have a basic, and I mean BASIC feeling of empathy and compassion for other humans...

*Virtue Signaling: empty gestures (posted on social media for example... or even stated while "protesting") of goodwill employed to make you LOOK like you care... and make YOU feel better about yourself... despite the fact that all you did was type a message on your phone and hit "post."

This thread is a good way to see if we have affected members in Houston.....which we do.

maybe because people are truly shocked and saddened by what has occurred... virtue signaling is more when you sympathize with some "cause" or someone who really already has the power and means to protect themselves and project themselves.. but disingenuously continues to play the "victim"..something akin to political correctness, both of which are at epidemic proportions these days...

People in Texas are true victims... and many want to show sympathy for their plight..it's similar to when one of our favorite artists dies, they don't need our sympathy.. they had a great life that has passed.. or they snuffed it themselves.. but we still feel it...and , being humans, will express the feelings of sadness or loss that come... so get used to it champ..
it's not going anywhere anytime soon...
