If you are going the AMD route buy fast RAM(Samsung B-Die)not less than 3000MHz and not more than 3200MHz, for Ryzen use only 2 sticks and for Threadripper 4 sticks for speed/stability.

More tests:

 

get the 1700x not the 1700.

but still you need to not overload 1 core or you get hiccups, distribute the load if that happens (busses).

if you follow that simple rule you can load tons of vst into this 8 core baby which in case of the 1700x still has enough single core juice.


Threadripper & i9 are just another world in therms of costs.
