Just splashed out on BX_E Console because it fixed the Win 7 bug when paired with AA plugs (on my system). I don't need 2 aggressive style ch strips in my arsenal.

 

Gold is 199, N4 is 249. You gotta be extremely stupid to do that.

 

Unless you got the pre-release upgrade and discount?? And the other didn't?? Who knows? Maybe you don't like the workflow anymore? Maybe you now prefer the sound of Aquas?

I have both and literally swapped out a bxconsole E on the vocal yesteday and replaced it with Gold.Mainly because i had remembered i had Gold as i don't use it much since getting the first Bxconsole (neve vxs).

Reason being Gold sounds really great but it's like sprinter or first guy in a relay race 1 instance you look up and your cpu is like whoaa there cowboy.BXconsole N and E is like a triathlon athlete or the rest of the guys in the relay race,it'll handle great eq sound (two flavours) great compression(also two the E and the G comp) gate/expander,side chaining,de-essing, MS soloing,saturation..you get my point all with the lightest cpu hit,you'll easily get as many instances as you want without having a powerful comp and yeah it sounds great too..

As for the OP ,it's not about price ..he knows that coupled with BX,n4 can give him all the top pre amps and consoles that would effectively make his Bx go saiyan ..level 3.

So Gold is superior sound wise if you have the cpu to handle the instances ? I've already reached my cpu limit with Neb libraries which is why i haven't bought any of the Acustica stuff. Definitely tempted to try that Brainworx if it can match up to Acustica standards, but since Nebula it's made me hate the digitalness of standard vt's. Still haven't found a console emu i like either yet even the Nebula ones aren't great.

Oh definitely not superior just a different sound/s and approach.

I meant i swapped it out in the end after the mix because using the BX i got there so quickly and seamlessly with loads of cpu to spare.So i thought i might just swap out the channel strip with something else just to see what a mix of the two would sound like.

The gold sounds great but i'm always in a cautious mindstate with it based on it being a cpu hog kind slower to use and not being able to trust the meters,but it sounds great i wouldn't say better just different flavour, one's NEVE and one's SSL.

The Bx i know i can pull it up loads quick sounds great use it without any hesitation so i'm subconsciously in an easier mindstate.

Oh and honestly as far as standards go, you should be able to get an amazing sound using stock plugins..now especially if you got nebula and can use some tubes,tape and pre amps or console instances , then you're golden with most any algo plug.

All you pretty much need to compete with everything out there including the top Acquas are N3/N4 and the HenryO AYCE..Done.

That has all the pre amps and hardware mojo to use in combination with any good algo emulation,e.g use the xlogic pre amp with waves ssl or ik,duende etc.

Use his 1176 mojo which gives you the sound and harmonics or the hardware followed by (or try before ) waves 1176 or psp or whatever algo emulation and you then get the speed and action of the algo with the sound depth ,weight , of the hardware using neb.

 

Nice man yeah i used those mojos a few years ago, might have to revisit them. Have you found any of those particulaly useful on the Bass or Master Buss? I was uing the Shadow Hills followed by (i think) the Glue at the time on the MB but nowadays im just mixing better on the busses and just use a clipper if needs be. Pretty much all my dynamic controlling plugins and Bus EQ's are Nebula, leaving the standard vst's for basic eqing, fx etc.

 

I've got sand comp and coral on the master with coral "tape". The Bxe console is really really good imo. I bought console n before that but couldn't use it with AA. Now that PA has fixed the bug I'm slimming down on buying future aquas. I want to buy neb libs instead.

 

Dude for the master signal2noize powered buss and HenryO AV 2055 mojo i think it's in preamp or mojo, then throw in some tape and you're nice...but the powered bus and the AVALON WOW.

 

HenryO all you can eat..and maybe if you want grab AlexB MFC and /or AlexB 4K.....i don't have the 4K but heard some great things from a reliable source.The Mfc is always on my master buss i don't even bother with anything else.
