    Hi Everybody,

Hope you all are doing fine. It has been a long time since I had shared my work with the community for feedback. I was inactive for almost a year. I resumed making music since last two months.

As far as I remember, my last major shared work was for AudioSEX Ambient Album.

Today, I am posting here my new music track (not an ambient music) which I have written using a single synth (without any samples, not even for drums) and mixed & mastered using cheap earbuds which is suplied with a mobile phone.

It can be categorized in experimental melodic techno genre ... Or you may suggest best suitable genre which I am not able to recognize.

It has been made for KVR One Synth Challenge, Feb 2017.

I kindly request you all to listen and give feedback how you generally feel about the music quality, mixing and mastering quality, sound design or any other thing which you would like to share for improvement.

I welcome all kind of feedback, i.e., I do not mind if you don't like its quality and say it harshly.
I am learning. So, all words of feedback are important to me.

Thanks a lot to everybody who will spare their time to listen and comment.
I hope.. that time is not wasted.

    So, here it is:

    " L U R I D "

I have used a string synthesizer.... Nabla by Full Bucket Music. It's a Freeware synth.

    Thanks you for replying.

Considering the fact that you used phone buds to mix and master this is quite the feat. Nice job! I'm a little on the fence with the melody, it's not bad mind you, it actually works very well in this track (well mostly) it's just... weird? I'm not loving the pluck @ 1:12 because it doesn't work well on it's own, maybe a pad or something to make it shine, oor delay and reverb the fu** out of it to give it more depth. And like I said, it has a weird feel to it, like a killer clown and some aliens, high on DMT taking a ride on a cruise missile. But it's a nice kind of weird imo. Good job dude, and if you continue to polish it more, please please mix it in mono with better headphones.

Thanks @dragonhill and @T3NR@ for visiting this thread. Hope you had, at least, "not bad" listening experience, if not good. :winker:

T3NR@, I am noting down your feedback. I am certainly going to rework this track, especially that pluck sound, when I get some peaceful time to concentrate. I also need to have proper bridging between sections, more smooth transitions, i think.

Can I ask some more input from you and other members who will visit this thread..?

    1. How bad this mix, master and production is? (Please dont consider how it was mixed and mastered, which cheap tools were used-it does not matter to a normal listener. I would like to know from general perspective, compared to a professional work.)

    2. Is there any specific reason for suggesting to mix in Mono...?

    3. Any other suggestion for mixing...?? (I may try to borrow some good monitors to work this one. So any suggestion would help ti make better mix.)

Again, thanks a lot to AS community.

    1. It's not good, but also not bad. It's clear you haven't been paying attention to mono, that's why your levels are off a lot. The kick drum especially is eating away at the frequency range, I'd tone it down with an eq from 80 hz some 3 to 5 db. Basslines too but from 100 hz and 2 db maybe more.

    2. The only real way to mix is to mix in mono, listen to your track in stereo then in mono, I bet it sounds like ass in mono. (It does actually after I listened to it in mono, my ears were hurting pretty quickly) When you get the mono mixed well the stereo will be the best it's ever been.

    3. The high pitched bell/tingle sound starting @ 0:33 needs to go down 1,5 db at least; The hats need to lose punch and body a bit, there's an annoying click to it at around 1000 hz or higher and it's 1 db too loud; It doesn't need a drop at 1:00 just add a quiet, fast paced hihat to give it some nice groove, lose the sweep down and continue the progression with the original sounds and the hihat; The loud-as-fu** pluck @ 1:12 can be there as-is just tone it way down and add a delay that will work with the groove of the song and a damp reverb (no low frequencies on the reverb); The build-up @ 1:42 needs low end support, take that fat bass line there and instead of every 4 steps of bass, make it every 2 steps; After that last part where the kick drum ends, boost the volume on the pads or strings, it's a little too jumpy there and needs to be softened to mellow it out to the end.

When all of that is done, I'm pretty sure the mix will still need to be EQ'd, at the very least on the master bus, then a good quality compressor. Never use multiband compression on your master track just compression and limiting, unless you positively know what you are doing with it.

I will come back with revision suggested by @T3NR@. It may take some days. But, I'll return.

Thanks a lot for spending time. I don't have words to convey how thankful I am feeling now. :thanks:

It's rare that someone listens what I make. And this time, it is too deep and with so much detailed constructive feedback. I always beg to find faults and mistakes in my work, which my untrained and inexperienced ears can't identify.

    I am speechless.

All I can do now is...

    Respect. :beg:
