Life is exactly what you think it is

 

The word 'screws' in the question implies that the questioner is sure that lives are somehow ruined. But first we need to know what is meant by 'life'. I'm assuming that the questioner means life is that period from the moment we're born to the moment we die. The time that we're alive. We are actually alive in spirit form before we're born from our mothers' wombs - according to the spiritualists and the religious. Some might succefully argue that we're being screwed before we're 'born' by mothers who smoke, take drugs or eat unhealthily while our bodies are taking human form, in the womb. Any screwing of our lives might well begin right there. But what is 'life' anyway? You have to grapple whith the question of what reality itself might or might not be. The leading concepts about how 'life' or 'reality' comes about seem to involve the idea that we create our own reality. Quantum physics experiments reveal repeatedly that an atom is only measurable when a human observes it; when we don't observe it, the atom seems to occupy all space; it is everywhere. And perhaps Buddhist thinking says the same, I'm not sure. If this is the case then all physical reality isn't here at all. But if we put a camera in a room with no one in it, the camera still records the room. There is no one in our kitchen right now, therefore it's not really there right? Hmm. CCTV cameras will debunk that one because they are recording spaces with no-one in them all the time. So I can't accept the idea that we create physical reality given this problem, but I am very open to possible solutions.

But to answer the OP directly, without any philosophy , I have enough life experience and knowledge now to be sure that our lives are being screwed by outside forces. Leaders who do not love the people they lead, and who do not care about our advancement and education, who steal from us illegally through taxes and the 'false, fiat currency' they pay us then steal it from us. There is much more but that is enough to be going on with.

Do we let ourselves be screwed? Well yes and no. Those who are ignorant of the facts are innocent, and those who know the facts can do something about it but most don't. I cannot accept the cliche, 'ignorance is a crime'. It must have been invented by one of our evil leaders. If I eat something and don't know it's giving me cancer, high blood pressure or any of a number of diseases, how is it that I should have taken care to find out if it was harmful before eating it? I simply trust those who sell it to me to be healthy to eat. If I haven't been taught anything about dangerous electricals and I fuck with a wall plug and electricute myself, how is it that it would be my fault? Just as the Grenfell Tower tragedy will reveal corporate manslaughter took place because the owners of those buildings were aware that they were unsafe, we should surely be able to hold to account anything that that is sold to us that has the potential to harm us - without making sure that we know what we are doing with those things. Otherwise the same situation arises, the seller is knowingly culpable for selling us something that could harm us. People are able to get driving licenses far too easily. A car is a potential weapon in the hands of a person who .... let's see... has just been thorugh a divorce, an illness, is unemployed, has a history of crime, or is taking medication, or is easily distracted by any number of personality traits (lapses of concentration, levels of unhapiness can cause mistakes in driving)...see where I'm going with this? Everything ultimately leads us down a rabbit hole. Summary: we screw ourselves, but with a lot of help from outside forces who do not love us enough and let us hurt ourselves.

we screw ourselves in my humble opinion. I was feeling like shit, feeling sorry for my self and felt like life couldn't get much worst, felt like I was delt a bad hand and then I realised it was all down to me. I then looked for many ways to improve in my life, reached out and got given a opportunity to improve my life and took it.. I now feel the best I think I ever have, 100 x better.. morale of the story is I didn't wait for life to get better, even though I felt like life was screwing me over it wasn't, it was all down to me.

If you dont take responsibility for the little part of life that you have been given, well then you can think that life screws you over until you are in your grave

Life does not need to make sense to you, if you dont enjoy it you can change or just die, you will die anyways, so.. no worries

im pretty sure we screw ourselves, humans lost respect for moral values, values that make us humans, values that matter in order to coexist in harmony with one another ...this little Planet has still to offer but now seems late in teaching those who rule the world that this place isnt just for them ...this place needs a revolution, wake up! now and fast!

We need to take them out. Literally. Country by country. One by one. We literally take the leaders out, put them on coaches and take them to a hotel, then hold a press conference with them in the audience. Televised live. All media invited. We tell them that we've had enough, you don't love us and never will, you have been stealing from us, over-medicating us, under-educating us, mind-controling us, chem-trailing us and on and on..long list of charges. But we will not punish them. We will forgive them. But they will do it no more. Simple. We tell them they will rule over us and hurt us no more. After a few of these, they will start running into hiding in other countries. We take our countries back. Blood-less revolution. We will run our countries ourselves. New ways. New life. Massive planning job which might take years but we must do it. And we must have Police and forces on board. We must take our world back from these evil rulers.

glad we share the same thoughts about ...but i dont like the ''forgive'' part ...these scums need a RAW lesson ...im extremist on this matter, for me its all or nothing, now or never ! or history will repeat itself sooner rather than later ...im not the kind of guy that likes to see people punished to death, but some of those greedy bastards, really needs that with no remorse ...blood-less revolution? ...id pay with mine knowing my son and all children in the world will have a better life after, at any day and given moment !

...i see many pople in here take the matter in some sort of joking but i tell you that for many its not a joke, im struggling in my daily life, at home, at work, i probably should not pay attention to little things that for me arent little, and just be more careless, but i swear i cant ...when i see all this inequality, injustice, mocking and indiference oon the face of some people im getting mad and always i ask my self why? ...why cant i be careless? why cant i be like that person? ...what can i do? ...most of the time nothing, because when you try to explain something to someone, 99.9% of the time you get misunderstood, because that or those people never or maybe less than you had to deal with some sort of problems like yours ...and all you get is a wall ...the intolerance of some goes to infinite because they will never understand ...in general, we screww eachother be it by free will, indiference, power or unable to help ...this last one cathegory have the most potential to do something ...we need to trust in us, we need that ...
