I notice ads here too...

so does that mean my macbook has an adware thing?

I dl'd Malware Bytes adware cleaner... and it found of those "spigot" type things, but I still see these ads.

Any advice on that?

I have Adblock, but allow this here & sis site as only exceptions. I don't need the ads but I do not mind them either plus allowing them is the one thing I can do back for our fav sources.

 

I can deal with ads but that one with the old guy talking about earning money is doing my head in!!!! his voice is so annoying and hes on instantly.

 

Adblock Plus will remove ads from everywhere including YouTube, if you google it and add the name of your browser you'll get the right one. I still always get one other window open on AZ every time I mouse-select a download link, but you can just close it.

Now, I do appreciate that ads revenue helps finance the site, but I have made the personal decision not to support it in that way. I would prefer to pay a PaySafe just like for Uploaded than see ads and popups. I think most members would be willing to pay 5 or 10 Euros for yearly membership and that should bring in enough to cover costs.

 

This is just a general reply...

The only reason I mention this is that, I have had no ads for a couple years now, and then all of a sudden the night before last... boom, ads on youtube, and sister site.

That's why I wondered.

Warez websites that require you to pay a monthly membership fee to access the content, whether they be torrent sites or websites that just host links or the new variation that requires you purchase a membership for some obscure file-locker, are a complete and utter disgrace to the scene!!!

I for one am sick of those greedy lowlifes trying to profit from the hard work of all the groups that bring the releases to us. I remember back when people shared just for the sake of sharing. It is a pity this sort of scum, that care only about making money, are taking over the web. It is not just in the warez scene this is happening either, sadly this sort of mentality is eroding all facets of the web.

I personally am fine with the advertisements on the sister site though, as I don't believe an administrator should be forced to pay server costs out of their own pocket when so many people reap the benefits from the website. I don't want the ads redirecting me to porn sites or trying to install malware on my computer though, unfortunately some websites aren't as careful as to what ads they allow. The sister site has been good about using unobtrusive ads though so they don't bother me.

 

uBlock Origin is also a very good adblocker.

 

Thankful, I know you mean well (plus, your help/comments here are greatly appreciated!), but I can see this a PITA to implement (for admin.), we have members from all over the world (isn't that great?) and it's difficult to chose payment method(s) that will be equally accessible to all (if at all). Also for me there is security concern from my POW. You know, just follow the money... (again, IMHO)

yeah.. something changed with my setup, which I feel caused the sudden reemergence of the ads... though I am not sure what changed, SOMETHING did.

But yeah, ABP working amazingly.

 

Ahhhh i see, I have been a member for many years but i never log in.......

 

I just got a porn popup when i clicked on AS from AZ
some slapper with her legs open and i had to close firefox in the task manager
the worse thing is my kid could of been in the room as well
any one elace get this popup or any-thing like it ?

 

If you're logged in on AS AND sister site, you won't see a popup. And when you like to download something you should be logged in to peeplink as well.
No ads, no popups, no nasty girls.

btw.: Kids shouldn't see dad or mum pirating software as well ;)
