Hi, I'm actually making a song wich snare drum is very prominent but when I try to push up the loud of the song it starts to get to much squashe, that only happen to the snare, and I'm getting crazy.
Maybe it is because the snare have too much punch on the mix or I should increase it? Anyway, Help me please.

i guess by "push up the loud" you mean a limiter/compressor on the master track?

maybe check to see if your hi shelf is cutting frequencies on your limiter (if that's what you are doing)

maybe your attack/release settings are too sharp for the certain frequencies of the snare? (if you are using a compressor)

you can always use an equalizer on that snare drum track and tweak the los/mids/his until you regain the sound in the mix..

additionally, you can always lower the other sounds around the snare with some automation volume adjustments

hope you get it sounding the way you want!

maybe someone else here on the forum can be better help than i

    :)

Thanks for reply, yes the problem comes when I'm using a limiter. Now I will check the tips you have mentioned :)

Just don't squash the hell out of your track, and you'll be fine *yes*

I would definitely try all of the above tips. Also look at the waveform before and after limiting to try ands see what its doing. I have found that when the snare is not present enough layering it works really well. And check your rms make sure your not over limiting the track. Maybe even reversing the phase of the snare could work if your doing 4/4. Good luck.

Try to reduce the bass, raise the treble then raise the volume (in the EQ) it should work ;) no need to compress it.

Simple answer is better mixing and submixing. If your mix is good you don't need to squash the master (or as much as you are doing now).
