I have an original Surface Pro and have now purchased 2 Type Covers but neither worked. I bought one, returned it and took another. Wirh the second I saw it workinf on another Surface Pro.

However, when connecting to mine I am having issues. It is turning on the backlight and I can use the buttons to turn brightness up and down. The proximity sensor also works with the backlight dimming and turning back on when my hands are near.

I have searched online and tried a lot of the solutions but can't seem to get it to work. I have also contacted Microsoft and they are as useless as ever, saying that I need to send off everything for repairs at a hefty cost even though they have done virtually no diagnostic troubleshooting.

Anybody got anything similar happening or any suggestions for a fix?

 

Maybe you need to reset the keyboard at BIOS level.

Nah. I've tried that and various other similar fixes using two button shutdown and startups to reset and clear things and/or enter BIOS etc.

 

im saving for a surface pro 4 my friend.

 

I've had Surface Pro, Pro3 and Pro4. Never had these issues with Typecovers. Sometimes I needed to restart the Surface. Have you cleaned the connectors under the SP? They tend to collect dust and dirt. I clean them from time to time with Alcohol and then use contact spray afterwards.
