no, I wrote to Roland to ask to add it in next updates, would be great to a) load sysex of real d50. b) control the d50 by an midioutput of the plugin

This is a no brainer. I'm not a programmer, but I think implementing the sysex load/export option should have been on the table from the start.

Thanks for the info. I also have a real D-50. Roland should really have used there head on this, since most other vst will allow loading of sysex files. Example Korg vst M1, etc

I agree that's there's far more music around and far more mediocre music as well. But one thing that technology has done is allow people to access the tools to make music. Back when hardware was the only option, it meant a considerable cash outlay just to get started.Anyone can now do it, but the cream will still rise to the top.

I was playing around with the cloud D-50 last night. It sounds really good, I was very nearly in tears though. A dear friend that died last year owned one in the early 90's and I used to love playing around on it, especially the 'Soundtrack' preset. As soon as I found that patch I could feel myself welling up remembering the hours spent in his attic making tunes.

Here to say that I just tried the "Roland" D-50 "Plug Out" and my arse is as sore as hell.

    My ears have been raped

Shame on Roland for this act of pure sacrilege

The D50 remains one of the most sacred creations of the golden era of Japanese electronics.

    This software never came close....

Yet another poor fool tricked by "Roland" into believing the predictable marketing hype.

It's got nothing to do with weather the plugin sounds "nice"

The new owners of Roland can just rape you hard because they happen to own a trademark for the name "D50" only to shit on it on it's 30th anniversary...

Well my friend "Roland" has raped my ears and my arse this time with this foul little piece of of shitty code.

Call it what you want, tell yourself it sounds "nice" but know that it will never ever be a D50.....and will never even come close to sounding like a D50

You are right to say that it does not sound the same, the D50 sounds worse than the VST which unlike it does not have all the background noise that has the hardware on some sounds.

    I wouldn't compare it to a real D50 if I were you...

Would you compare Kontakt to an Akai MPC60 or an EMU Emulator II

That kind of recklessness would be downright insulting? and I would feel dirty and raped...

Then tell me what benefits the D50 has in a studio compared to the VST ...

Ted, and no one expecting to sound exactly the same. We all know back then there was a lot of harwdare contributors to how those synths sound(from d/a chips to signal amplidfication). And every element in synth was adding own color and vibe to end sound. Software is more or less focused on sound texture, everything else is more or less a gues as software at this point simply can't reproduce correctly physics part and the vibe of hardware coloration and how physical signal "as moving electrons" travel and change through that path to our ears.

So it seems you arguing with yourself. I do think Roland did(with software limitations in mind) a good job with this one and is definitely the best software reincarnation to date. I hope to se JD-800...JD-990 in near future as natural progression of their "Legendary" series.

No one should be praising this software. Sound quality aside. The graphic interface is abysmal. Shame on you, Shame on Roland. I knew that the D-50 would have been one of the hardest to get right but they went there and shat all over a classic. Roland are shameless and corrupt.

I can´t believe you are really arguing if this sounds like the real D50. Off course it does, it´s not rocket science after all the original is completely digital. Even the filters sound just as shitty as on the original. And don´t tell me about converter sound bla bla, the difference is just as high then the difference you encounter when playing this plugin thru your shitty soundblaster compared to listening thru Apogees...

You have exposed your total ignorance
To emulate a D50 one would require a far better cpu than your sluggish AMD brother.
