VST2 does work but with a CPU hog. On a I7 4790K it reached the limit by just 5 notes.
VST3 runs VERY SMOOTH with no CPU hog whatsoever.

Sounds: UNBELIEVABLE GOOD. Guys this is so fantastic. You must try it yourself. All the patches are clear and crisp. The signature of the 1987 digital D50 has been remained. It's a fantastic job from the Roland team!!

Didn´t expect anything else. Unfortunately I used up my trial already. So I am waiting for the R2R-version :D

 

I think if you use another e-mail address you can make another account on the Roland Cloud.

 

yea I guess that´ll work, but don´t wanna mess up my R2R cloud plugins now. I hope the D50 will be r2ralyzed soon anyway. I also heard that Roland will be releasing a JX3P cloud plugin soon...

 

just checked it with another e-mail adress. Firt impression: just sounds like the real thing I owned back in the 80´s, it even has some additional waveforms. Big turndown: It currently doesn´t respond to any pitchbend and channel aftertouch messages, c´mon Roland this is a synth and not an organ! (I guess it´s a beta bug which will be fixed soon thu)

 

So is the real hardware going to go up or down in price/demand? I need to know if I should go post my D50 in the classifieds immediately, ha ha.

 

Who knows. Take your guess, I'd assume the prices are about to go down because of the competition, but that's me.

 

I even considered buying a used D550 or D50---until now, why should I even bother now? The original has problems with it´s aftertouch sensor and the sloppy timing makes every played chord sound more like an arpeggio :D

 

PB and aftertouch works fine for me on the Mac/AU version.

 

Not sure if this is widely known yet, but you have the option to take a sound from each pack you have installed on the Roland Cloud, and layer them whilst adjusting each effect separately.

 

You do know though it is still just a Rompler.

And you can dislike it as much as you like, it doesn't change the fact it's true!

seems to be DAW depended, I read about ppl on the Roland cloud FB page, that it isn´t working on Cubase and Sonar, works on Reaper thu. Just tried jbridging the plugin and it responds to pitchbend and aftertouch then, but GUI is missing when plugin is wrapped...

well no it isn´t just a rompler. It uses short attack samples and synthesized waveforms for the sustain phase plus it can ringmodulate between partials.

 

I think there is some confusion., there was a d-50 rompler on the Roland Cloud first, now there is a full fledged instrument I believe.... so there are 2 different products...

 

Can somebody pls clarify... Isn't Roland Cloud Anthology 1987 the D-50 as well? Did they actually multisample the D-50 into a 2GB lib (Concerto), then release a VST synth version of the D-50 as well??

Yes, Anthology is just a multisampled D50 library, the D50 plugin is the real deal, with the whole D50 engine modelled, so you have access to all original D50 synthesis parameters.

Update: VST2 works perfectly too. Obviously had to restart my PC!

 

PB and AT do not work in VST3!!
