I just fell in love with it. Of course, if you're under 30 it probably doesn't appeal to you. But holy shit, I just found this channel 'New Retro Wave' and it is full of treasures! There are some boring ones as well, but most of it is amazing.

I mean, seriously, listen to this killer track and then try to tell me it's not good. Goosebumps, guys, goosebumps:

Or listen to this fine peace of old-school dark wave:

New Retro Wave has some great music, but these two examples are lame if you ask me. This is more my groove:

Anyway yeah the music is fine, sometimes it just gets too bland because of the saturation of content in that very niche, which more or less has to adhere to certain standards (due to the fact that that genre is THAT particular combination of sounds and drum samples, and you can't really get creative without pissing out of the toilet)

Very happy that the 80's are back! There is so much cool new retro stuff out there. By the way, check this out (this is my favourite):

As always the problem will be that the mainstream gets into it and rides it to death. I read a review of Katie Perrys new album in a german news paper where they praised the 80ies influence. So I read on and found out that Hot Chip produced some tracks. Here is one of it, and you can't get more disappointed. After a very promising intro it turns straight into a shitty boring no-go thing. Can't stand it! How could they do this? :dunno: :suicide:

Btw. Talamide, I forgot to mention that i really like New Retro Wave as long as it doesn't get to lofty style. It needs to be dark and straight. Your examples fit in perfectly.

I like it too. I did Beats for like 15 years and I just got really inspired by it. So then I just did this. Also available on iTunes, Spotify, etc.

Take Haddaway's bassline and mix it with the leads by Eurythmics' sweet dreams and you get Katy's roulette. Oh yes, this one destroys the retro wave at all points.

@Elisea Oh, that Perry song is really just a boring mainstream pop with some references.

@hvyen What can I tell about Pertubator? Oh, this: Have been listening through the full album, now at the second one. And I don't listen to what I don't like.

@5teezo First five songs = very good (currently). I feel the same. It inspires me, which no other genre did in the last 10 years.

@tulamide I listen to them when driving im my car frequently since years. :)

@Kingvrage Yeah, VHS Glitch is pretty cool.

Also check the Mitch Murder stuff! He is responsible for a couple of songs for the Kung Fury soundtrack, too. It's much softer and more original but I like his songs. This is my favourite track by him:

First song, first notes, THE piano of the late 80s/early 90s -> Korg M1. Oberheim pads and a song is born. Great!

Oh I forgot to mention this awesome track. Absolutely one of my favourites, too:

I love the fluttering melody. Com Truise is a master in this.

This style is also called Synthwave, Retrowave or the "Out Run" style. Com Truise (and earlier, Kavinsky) is probably the only one who has sort of broken into the "mainstream", along with Mitch Murder now.

The problem with this style is that there's TONS of identical-sounding lame instrumental trash created by bedroom producers of varying quality, so finding the gems is tricky.

Thanks guys. Thats really a lot to explore. I listen to poptron and similar radio stations on SomaFM where i often find such gems. I would say one of my favourite movies "Drive" initiated with its soundtrack the trend of Retrowave and i appreciate it.:thanks:

Your soundcloud page led me to your bandcamp page. Good stuff, man, respect.
    STMPZLLA is a dope production.
