It's not s...t man, don't talk this way about your music. Don't put yourself and your music down.
I wanna help you and criticise your work if that's what you wish. But I wanna do it with finished beats. You'll progress by moving your progressions forward. You can take things further but with an entire beat. It's like your start a story, get to a point where it gets interesting, you stop in the middle of the sentence and you ask "how did you find my story ?"...Answer : unfinished !

The problem with a snippet is that a very important element in a song is missing: context. Without the context you have no story. And without story what's left to criticise?

it is just random stuff happening sir.( not meant as insult)

try starting with a single key with tonic ,subdominant then dom space those out then go in and add detail afterwards, right now it sounds like random generated with no thought or effort placed on what is going on , i hope that helps

Yeah i think you just solved his problem with that theoretical approach to what should be expressing yourself sonically.

Anyways foster911 if you set yourself up as a target you're gonna get targeted,Art shouldn't be put on display for people to judge, just to appreciate enjoy or if it's not your thing just keep it moving.

AFTER being here around for a while... I think that Foster911 is an essential part of our community! I recently discovered it. There was.. (ohh fuck - still is!) this guy that really gets on my nerves. I don't know how to block somebody - never needed, but this time I was just about to ask.. didn't need though - Foster911 destroyed him. The only thing that is MUCH worse of ANY nebulousness that is put on here is an OVER-THEORETIZING individual that produces NOTHING.. not even a nebula. @foster911 you are a weapon, antimatter,.. don't ever leave us!

@beatmagnus The PinK MaN can save us all... :winker:

Needs to transition into a different sound or expression of notes that are related as you would if you were to say move everything up a 4th or 5th and then back to the tonic experiment doing this chromatically and in a diatonic manner to see which you like better then maybe you have another song that if it is not in a related or neighboring key then maybe you can modulate that other song to be in the same or a neighboring or related key then you can figure out a way to transition to that other piece like it was a part of the first song but do so in a very cool way and then back again. That way you have some variety and movement that is less repetitive and it keeps our interest longer. You also might incorporate more variation of tempo and volume to create movement by rising and or lowering the volume and tempo. Pretend you are singing over this song words are not important think of the great Pink Floyd song the Great Gig in the Sky, not a word is ever said or spoken but they have a lot of great vocal melodies and so then make that melody work and learn it well enough to play it on keys and you can overlay that melody on top of the song on another track with a lead tone. Now try to play that melody over the song and record it. Keep trying this approach till you get a good melody that fits.

    I agree with Talmi
but at least you're making some progress. I remember when you were scared to even start something, and instead you'd argue about philosophical questions nobody really cared about

Now at least I heard something that resembles music.
As guy above said, try to hum something over the chords or play a melody or just scrabble random stuff with the mouse on the piano roll till you're satisfied.

Keep it up, and hit me up if you want any tips or help.
I may not be a pro, but I can still be a bro :>

Sounds to me like a 48 bar buildup with no real "up"
Would rename it to "skit" instead of Shit
The beginning sounds a bit too abrupt for my taste.
From that point on to stay in the flow and to get fast results, I would try some minor melodic changes to get to some point where the melody resolves better, then bring in (more) different synths, maybe layer some to what you got already. And try counterpart voice maybe with lower or different arpeggiated synths.
Also dont wait too long to buildup your drums.

    Good luck

i really like the bass in the background
i think a cutoff automation on the main melody is essential here

    You're right: it's a shit.
Sorry buddy, but everything is so shitty in that shit, that I can't go deeper in criticism without putting myself into deep shit.
You want it, you get it... even if, in fact, the following quote was precisely the kind of compliment you were looking for:

    As I said: I'm a bitch .
"Houston... Schriiiiit... We have a problem... Schriiiiit..."
I never said his heart and brain were made of shit. Only the music he present us as... "Another shit"... is made of it.
You have the nerve to pretend that I am wrong to say he's right?
It is not my fault if, unlike him and I, you have bad taste in music :bleh:.

I've told him that he is wrong, so I'm not going to tell you that you are right to agree with him.Taste is a relative thing, imho. Technically there is nothing wrong with this short extract. He should finish it. Then I'll decide if I like it or not.

I think you would earn far more credibility in here if you actually gave us a full track. After all your posts about theory and techniques it should be easy. As for the current excerpt I would say the intro is way too long and, as soon as the beat picks up, it ends which is pointless.I'm also not hearing a solid bassline to anchor the beat.

Here is a challenge for you:

    Load up your DAW.
Load up a drum loop or a drum sampler if you want to make your own beat.
    Load up a bass
Load up some kind of pad to add texture
    Load up a lead synth
Set yourself a target of at least 3-4 minutes.

4 tracks should not strain your abilities too much and it might end up not very good but at least we would have something to work with and offer sensible advice.
