FFS!!!!! Read what people are telling you!!!!!

The bit you copied out and quoted is for ADDITIONAL computers beyond the one you can authorise for use without USB dongle and without needing to use online verification.

If you had it installed on a desktop and laptop, like I have, I have used the one machine authorisation for my laptop (meaning my laptop does NOT need USB dongle or to be online) and then I use the online verification log in for my desktop.

I do not own a USB dongle and use Reason on two machines, only one of which needs to use the online verification login.

No idea why your insisting in wanting to be proven right and being ignorant in refusing to fricking listen to what people are telling you, people who actually own and use Reason!!!!!!!

    Flexibility as it is.

So you answer my question. Extra gear needs to be online or with dongle. Or your cognitive process isn't strong enough to get it?

Fuck sakes, man! When you scroll back you will realise how stubbornly stupid you are coming across. You told people that the 9.5 Reason would HAVE to use a USB dongle and claimed that was true because Propellerhead said so. You then copied and pasted bits to support your statement, even though a kindergarten kid reading what you copied and pasted would realise it actually contadicted and disproved what you claimed. I and others (@twoheart, @VIVIsect and @T2000) then gave you a simplistic and factual answer and you're still arguing.

The conclusion of this is that a) you were wrong, b) you can use Reason WITHOUT USB dongle or being online and c) there is flexibility to add additional systems should you wish. You seem to be trying to get on some high horse, but I can't quite figure out your logic for doing so. A lot of DAWs allow you to have one install of a DAW per serial and Propellerhead have come up with a flexible authorisation system and you're still moaning....even though you don't own the fucking thing!!!!!!!

I couldn't give a flying fuck whether you buy it or not, but don't be ignorant and "inform" others of things that simply aren't true and claim that ignorant misinformation is fact. That's helpful to nobody.....

Daniel Faraday..... what version of Reason are you running? If you are up to date you shouldn't be making these incorrect statements. Authorisation is the simplest implementation that Propellerheads has ever had. It is an entirely new overhaul of system from the days since versions 8 and prior.

The one thing I am slightly miffed about though is the way they handled recent updates. Since Reason 5 i think, it has had minor updates, then a x.5 step for free. This happened with Reason 5 to 5.5, 6 to 6.5 and 7 to 7.5. When Reason 9 was released, they had only updated Reason to 8.3.2 and then skipped 8.5 for some reason. The reason I am slightly miffed is because at the time Reason 9 came out my main gripe was because of the minimal updates it did not feel like a significant update, basically the addition of the players, which aren't exactly revolutionary. It felt much more like it should have been 8.5 than Reason 9 to me, and I was one of the beta testers for Reason 9 so I did dig deep into it. With VST implementation now, that would have been more akin to a 8.5 to 9 update, especially with the other bits added in 9.2 as well. My feeling is that when they implented the players, that should have been a 8.3.2 to 8.5 update, and what has been added in 9.2 and what will come in 9.5 could have justified a 8.5 to 9 update.

Anyway, I'm a consumer and I chose not to upgrade to version 9 based on my reasoning, i.e. the only real addition was the players. However, with VSTs coming in now I have a feeling that a chunk of this month's pay check is going to be spent of a Reason upgrade :)

Not sure if it was 8 or 9, but when they got rid of that Codemeter app - that alone was a cause to celebrate. I rarely use Reason but I'll be interested to see if things like Serum sound as rich and full in Reason as they do in Logic. Ive always found it hard getting a Reason track to have a 3D sense of depth.

So as before, if Reason 9.5 protection is changed so that single use doesnt require dongle or online, is it now crackable?

    Everything is crackeable.
It's a question of the amount of time & effort you have to invest.
If you crack a mature protection like Propellerhead's ignition key or Steinberg's eLicenser, you'll have to invest most of the group's time and knowledge to analyse thousands and thousands of lines of code.
During this time, a group won't be able to release other (possibly more interesting) cracks.

So, in the past groups decided not to crack Reason (e.g. because of it's deminishing userbase, a lot of more easily crackable DAWs)

AIR demonstarted that even Cubase (5.1) was crackable. But they also said, the amount of time and effort was rediculous, so they decided it to be their last Cubase crack. But nevertheless it was a proof of concept.

Again, it didn't require a dongle or online auth some version before 9 now. Youl can authorize one offline PC without dongle. But no group seems to be interested in cracking it either.

'it didn't require a dongle or online auth some version before 9 now'

ok, thanks. I was ignorantly thinking that the absence of a crack was because the dongle / online auth processes brought in encryption that couldnt practically be circumvented.

Good thing I bought Reason 9 back in January! I'll be among the first to know how this new feature works. :break::metal::phunk:

I bought a cheap copy of Reason 4, just after reason 6 was released purely cos it was very stable and now had aduio capabilities. Upgraded to version 7 and moved to ableton 8 due to lack of VST and midi out and Bitwig, but I do miss Reasons SSL mixer, and I only left Reason for the fact it didn't support VST. I can see the VST format taking on board with CV, after all its becoming a big thing in Modular and all hardware :) Happy times for us synth heads :)

And what's your opinion now. Have you tested it?

I've installed 9.5 today and I think the Propellerheads have done a smooth integration of the VSTs.
On my desktop Reason has found the VST instruments without any problems. The only one it had problems with, was Steinberg's Groove Agent 4, the rest seems to work nicely.
On my laptop, Reason didn't take the right VST directory and I did not find where I can set the VST path within Reason. But I must confess, I've had not have time to read the manual yet.

P.S.: ok, reading can be helpful. Found the directory definition in the f****** manual under "Defining custom VST folders"

its workflow still superslow compared to Bitiwg, so I wouldn't suggest for primary DAW
    [IMG]
but I really enjoy it as a secondary one (without the VSTs but with ReSpire), Bitwig needs Bidule as ReWire master(with 32 mixer out),

ok it's not the cheapest solution for sure, but a really enjoyable one (a best of both worlds like)

You pretty much summed it up, bro. Groove Agent 4 is one of my top 5 used plugins, and I too was having problems with it. Still works, but not as good as it should. :lmao:
