Best envelope shaper - cubase's. Prefer it over any vst crap i have (including fancy spl)
Best on board eq - Cubase (frequency eq). Really prefer it over pro-q.
Best on board compressor - cubase obviously. prefer it over many other clean compressors. Sometimes i'm using it even as a bus compressor.

Pretty sad that SO3's on board plugins are pure crap. I'm really missing steinberg's stuff sometimes. :(

No new information in my sheet that isn't in @5teezo's. Mine basically had vintage compressor models/track usage. His references additional useful information that isn't included in mine.

Gates! I really need to break down and buy the STA-Limit! I was curious if you'd pipe in. Any recommended uses/settings for inclusion in the chart?

While there already is a best answer here by RMorgan

Id like to add that the Ableton EQ8 is absolutely awesome. You can isolate and listen to the frequencies you like to cut.

You have a pretty nice compressor and an ssl compressor from cytomics

As it has been said, many daws have EXCELLENT plugins already built in

Not saying i dont like some fancy stuff which colors your sound with machine imperfections

you have the main properties of eq Q and filters oversampling minimum phase linear phase and then extras added from saturation, transformers, preamps, tubes, transistors analog myself my fav is fabfilter pro q 2 vst3 you get a realtime spectrum analyzer , combined with any shape and Q you want with ability to change the type of phase and oversampling and good on cpu i like may analog plugins independent for more control so i dont prefer as part of the eq

If you want some workhorses with great workflow and sound, look at the TDR EQ's, and TDR Kotelnikov compressor. The EQ's are great, and the comp extremely flexible. But the most important thing is that they're a pleasure to work with. Get results you want fast, and the same way every time, thanks to the clever design. Makes your life when you mix less schitzo, and it's so welcome.

On top of everything else, there are free versions of all these (with slightly cut down convenience features, but same sound), plus their "Pro" demo versions are not actually crippled in any way soundwise, they just don't remember/recall project settings.

Listen , learn, and listen again.....
Test, test, test ,and test again same plugin on different materials.
    It took me years. :)
Try to know when and wich plugin is needed.
Oh and gainstaging,... dont go in to hot with those nice "vintage" emulators.

Gluck... it can be indeed a overwhelming journey.

Btw: Did i mentioned gainstaging? :) Try klanghelm VU meters! Those are my best friends.

It Includes the Model, Number of Bands and Filters, Range (dB), Frequency Cutoff Points, Noteable Details as well as some Tipps and Tricks and an extra section with a list of plugin Vendors. I just listed the ones that came in mind are really useful. Any additions are are welcome!

Hey there 5teezo... Any chance of sharing that Compressor/Limiter Cheat Sheet again? That link says it's now expired :(

*edit* or if anyone else that downloaded already can re-share that would be swell too :D Muchos Grazias!

Yes and no. The linear EQ works in a specific way unlike most EQs on the market, hence why professionals working on the highest level need such tools. They do not see money they same way we do, for them its just another tool, 1000$ or 100$ this is not an issue when buying such an EQ.

The best sounding compressor in my opinion is tape saturation.
The best sounding EQ is the one with a 12db slope.
