If you have questions about tape, saturation, etc, our @The-RoBoT is a specialist in this area.

Love ReelBus! It's also one of the few that can emulate -cassette- tapes.

Also make sure to check out this Reaktor ensemble emulating all kinds of VHS degradation. It's FREE, obviously, and an absolute must provided you have Reaktor 6. (https://www.native-instruments.com/en/reaktor-community/reaktor-user-library/entry/show/11003/)

Thanks for recommending the Lindell to me. I'm really liking what it does and how it sounds!

I have to say I wouldn't use Watape for a master. It's an old machine running with old tape.
Some users have uploded individuals tracks of a project and then mixed again. I think it gives better results this way, to me sounds like a nice glue compressor. I also find that the noise in the hi-end and the difference in EQ between channels make your track wider.

I've been having a lot of problems with glitches and drops on the records. I think now it's kind of fixed, but I'm also having mechanical problems.
I also added three levels of distortion. Now it is possible to select how hard you hit the tape at the input.

I am thinking to add a LA-2A to the platform or a tube preamp to also have tube/transformer warmness. I am just hesitating to invest the money on that.
I know it's ambitious, but using a relay matrix it would be able to chain diferent hardware in one take.

About the max file and bit rates are things that I am planning to upgrade soon.

I tried Watape service: interesting results, in my opinion it is better than any vst tape emulation

I think it's pretty cool that someone is doing this - providing this - for free, and if people are happy with the results, so be it. The dispute of how "tape-like" authentic-sounding it might be could go on forerver, as with whether it's as good or better than this or that plug-in.

I had used four- and eight- track cassette decks for making music back in the latter '80s and early '90s. It was always best to use one with dbx noise reduction, since that "bounced" a lot better than Dobly B or C (with C being the quieter of those two).

In the early '90s came DAT machines, and I noticed then the main difference between the analog and digital realms: digital mixes behaved differently. For example, using the same output/level settings four-track cassette deck, the vocals and drums were a lot higher in the mix than on the to-analog mixes. On the former, the sounds were captured literally, and had to be recorded allowing for headroom to prevent clipping, and with a lot more high- and low-end response. On the latter, the sounds were "smeared," blended on the tape according to the characteristics of the chemical coating on the tape would receive them, and with less high-end "information" - perhaps closer to how the human ear perceives sound - and with the levels preferably regularly peaking-out over "0" on the VU meters to provide the desired effect.

Regarding tape emulations I really like ToneBoosters Reelbus. Wonderful plugin and cheap. I don't think Waves' emu is any better. Still, for best results it's best to have a real tape machine, of course. I've been considering getting one for a while...[/QUOTE]

Totally agreed! The Slate VTM is really good, and so is the U-He tape plug, but I really, really like TB_ReelBus. Affordable, easy to use, effective, lots of modelled machines included, and only moderate CPU hit.

Just in case somebody still cares about this. I made the site available for everybody. I hope to keep getting feedback to improve the service. It is free, I don't think I will be able to monetize it.

Thanks for all the comments I got so far from this forum. They've been really valuable for me!
