try to use saturators (tapes/tubes/bitcrashers). To make it load use heavy distortion like Trash 2, what is great

Slate Digital Revival and it's free. Inflator does hardly anything on a mix, tried the UAD one with effect at 100% and gain at -3.5dB for A/B'ing. Tape emulations will provide a better result (enough choice). To make drums big > parallel compression/distortion/saturation etc. Distortion is always a good method to make single sounds bigger. When used properly though. Sometimes a wet/dry signal at 50% or lower and adding HPF/LPF before the unit works even better. And add fx afterwards (reverb, delay etc. otherwise it will be a mess). Trash2, Decapitator, Devil-Loc, Saturn or just stock units lined up will do.

I dont know what people mean with analog warmth. Most of the time people mean the saturation of analog gear. Real gems for that are the Kush UBK plugins. They have a mellow warm analogish saturated sound. I love the sly-fy bundle by UBK you can make everything sound huge and warm and thik like the wool of a mamoth.

Is there some way to avoid having to use ilok with the free slate digital revival?

Things you can try out on your mix bus:
Kush plugins (Clariphonic/UBK-1/Omega etc.), Slate VTM/VMR/VCC/VBC/FG-X ( FG-X is more of a mastering type of plugin), Acustica Audio D361A, Prime Studio CHARLY, Sonnox Inflator, Waves J37, SPL Passeq, Cytomic The Glue, Soundtoys, check out SKnote plugins too

Just a few I can remember now
Try them out, see what works for you, they all add character, dimension and that analog vibe/flavor

Steinberg Magneto, if you're a Cubase user....
Or maybe it works in other daws too?

I use it on all master tracks. Even had some good results boosting/ remastering some older tracks to get them as loud the newer ones. Very reliable.
I never use izotope products so i don'nt know 'em.
But i have compared it to slate's stuff and waves.
I holds up pretty well for and old and probably free(?) plug.

Been using Magneto a lot lately, it can compete with the big boys.
