You are right. I Ctrl-c-ed that part.. I think they meant long-term worldwide boost vs short term thing. Many are getting recognition at least in their countries. Sweden is anyway considered a "we'll show you how a proper pop song gets produced" country. Same this year.. but Euphoria was better! ;)

Beautiful song and performance.. especially nice in original soft Portuguese.

Portugal well deserved win !!! nice speech too at the end about the music being important rather than the firework gimmicks.

 

A wonderful song from Portugal won. Amazing artist. Nice to see that Eurovison is also a serious competition capable of promoting the most beautiful music. A victory for music tonight.

I haven't listened to every song, didn't watch broadcast etcs. But from the ones (too many =) that I did, Macedonia had the best (pop) song:

Which was fine but had too much kicks, and not enough kitsch. Ditto clapping / cowbell. But I guess that applies to every song evah.

I also liked Italy's effort as well (lil bit) defo not because of growly hot guys who look liek Rip Hunter mmm:

Plus naked ape dancing is the best dancing. Obvs. Someone needs to explain that karma is dished out by the cosmos, tho. U would have thought Rip Hunter would've known!

Anyway, the winner (Portugal) dude was joint hottest babe (tied w/ Albania) so prolly got the most traction from gay bois & teen girls who make up 99% of the audience. It was pretty workmanlike, though, and sounded like something Randy Newman sings for his Disney debt; albeit w/ moar schmaltz / diff 8ve. Plus he dragged his sister (Celine Dion) into it, which prolly lost him some points =(

It was brave of the UK to sing in their obscure native language, so hats of to them for having the courage. Was ok song, but beardless Bond ballads WTF. I don't think the Albanian singer could work out which videogame she was in. Terraria @ one point =(

Eurovision is just to much mediocre to listen or see.
The music is bad, most of them sing in a language that it's not their one (Congrats to the winner for that).
