why ?

 

This is interesting. Obviously people will quip about it sounding any different, but some of us are inspired visually to be more creative so i definitely think it has merit.

I do like the default design for Serum but one thing missing I think is a skin that has a truly old school analogue look about them that for me at least, would inspire me to be more creative with it. I almost default to hardware like my Microkorg and Mininova for fun mess abouts, and that is largely because I find them visually more stimulating and inspiring than anything.

I am in the process of customising a Serum branded 25 key MIDI keyboard though to get away from the screen and mouse and have more hands on playability

They Look Way More Easier On Eyes Than Orginal Ones. It's Vectored , And Pixeles Are More Perfect In Even Low Resolution Screens.

I do think VST synths need to be careful with their GUI. I used Massive the other day for first time in ages and the GUI looks so dated now. Spire has also looked fairly primitive, at least until it implemented the dark skin option.

Serum looks good now, but i personally think it has a Massive-like desugn feel in that it will fewl outdated rather quick. This is one of the reason VST synths becone less inspiring and people seek other alternatives in my opinion This is one reason why maybe Nexus and Sylenth have lasted the distance. Though not exactly revolutionary, or pretty even, they still dont look as outdated as things like the Massive GUI in my opinion.

Did he under pay you for redesigning the Serum GUI for him?

 

That GUI is uglier than me, even if you look at it with polarized glasses.

I really like the flat design.

I know you put a lot of work into the 24k skin, it shows and it's frikkin' gorgeous but that flat theme has my pants wet. You have a gift, friend. All I could offer are two goats but besides milk they double as garbage disposal units and lawn mowers.

P.S What you did with the font is pure genius.
