Hi everyone and thanks for reading.

Hope you won't mind recommending a few good brass vst libraries. I am looking for something that sounds similar to the brass used in this commercial that has both a good legato transition and also staccato. Hopefully the library won't be too large as well

Thank you for the help. It is much appreciated :D!!

You need a brass band, not an orchestral brass so:

chris hein horns (it's possible that this was done with exactly this library)
    sample modeling trumpet/trombone/saxes
    mojo horns

new ones that i haven't checked yet:

    straight ahead jazz horns
    project sam swing

Maybe NI Session Horns, they are made exclusive for pop horns sound.
Also, you have pop brass in Magix Independence library, and you can get this type of sound.

The "pro's" are using CineBrass (both CineBrass Core and Pro) by Cinesamples. If you're looking for impactful trailer-style or standard brass, get the "Trailer Brass" or "Adventure Brass" by Musical Sampling. Another good brass library is the Symphony Series Brass sold through Native Instruments. All the other's suck, even though I've either had or tried them all...
All of these libraries are going to be huge (in size)... that's the only way to even come close to realism. You have to have a lot of samples to create the round-robin sample usage or the shit sounds like a synth... and completely fake.

I forgot... another very useful, all-around brass is ProjectSAM's stuff too (but expensive).
The BY FAR, BEST most realistic individual brass is by Sample Modeling but it requires you to have a MIDI wind-controller to achieve the absolute, most realistic brass imaginable... but you also have to know about the aspects of playing wind instruments... so unless you're a top-level, industry pro... forget it.

By the way... I just listened to that video you posted and it requires a library that consists of glissando, fall and shake brass articulations and you have to be capable of composing and placing those articulations correctly to make those happen... good luck!

Thank you for the additional recommendations :D Much appreciated! Since Chris Hein and NI Session Horns have smaller compact editions, I think I will try those first and see how well I can manage. Thanks again for the help!

I don't think you'll find what you're looking for in the CH Compact, I think you need full library. Maybe I am wrong, though.

    But NI Session Horns, sure.

    Absolutely agree with @shomyca list.

Sometimes back I heard a song by someone using Jasper Blunk free brass library. Although it was suited mostly for epic stuff but that song was a big band like song. So may be check that out as well specially the trumpets. Am not sure though, will myself have a look too.

Would rec'd samplemodeling too, pretty awesome for such lightweight libs. If it's still around, there's a stripped-down (single mic if memory serves) version of Fablesound's Broadway Big Band, which is awesome; rly playable, lots of artics & sounds great. The full version also has a load of "crap" (liek banjos & xylophones (!) etcs) which might be worth selectively d/l if bandwidth / space is @ a premium? It's rly good, and has most anything u can think of that is shiny & instrumenty.

a brass is a brass, it's how you modulate and use it.
all these libraries you called "classical" can make the sounds you hear in the video.

maybe you can add Fable Sound Broadway big band to the list

    edit : sorry, i didn't see famouslut comment ( FableSound BBB )

A big part of a brass band are saxes which orch brass don't have. Also mutes. And overall tone, brass band has more of a studio tone, and those orch brass libraries have a much bigger room baked in the samples (close mikes too), and not just a room tone but tone differences between style of playing too. Also number of instruments differ i think. Big big difference.

I think it's more that orchestral stuff like Berlin Brass is a lil moar focused on long legato & variations on kinds of swell sustains. Not that this is a criticism, cos it's lovely to use. I think that (BBB at least) is more focused on playable soloing and stabby staccato sforzando sustain stuff. Suitably.

Edit: another difference is that Berlin Brass is obsessed w/ using CC to control things. Mainly things that would be better as keyswitches! BBB is obsessed w/ keyswitches. Guess it depends on ur preference rly.
