Upgrade from Cubase 5.1 to Cubase 7 Elements, but too many features missing to be true!

Hi, I'm an happy owner of Cubase 5.1 but I was planning to upgrade to Cubase 8 or 9. I was, because I went recently to visit a couple of friends of mine who own respectively Cubase 7 elements 64 bits and Cubase 8.
I loved more Cubase 7, but both gave me some disappointment because they both lack one very important feature that it's instead available on Cubase 5 and earlier versions.
I'm talking (in the AUDIO menu) of the PLUGINS command (just below the PROCESS row) that makes possible to process a single part of any track using any plugin you have installed.
I asked to my friends and they both confessed that no similar option is in their Cubases. Disappointing!
So I'm asking you, is it really true that the newer versions of Cubase removed that feature?
If it's so, I think I'll remain with my Cubase 5.1 forever and ever, but it's a pity because I liked other things that newer versions have, including the support for the 64 bits machines like mine, etc. etc..
Thank you all in advance for your kind reply. Happy weekend
    ADRIANO

What do you mean you cant? In Cubase 8 you select your audio track, select event, go to audio, plugins, choose the plugin, hit preview and do your settings and then you can process it.
Or load the plugin to your insert slot, edit and go to render in place and it will make a new track with your plugin/channel strip/etc settings.

Thank you for your answer, but which version do you have?
I can assure you that in Cubase 7 Elements that feature is not available! (and not even in the artist version!)
Regarding the insert thing ok, but I would prefer not to waste memory for an insert plugin when I can process the single parts I want, just like I always did with v5.1 :)
    Thanks, cheers!

If I assume you are talking about Audio track "INSERTS" and "SENDS" then rest assured they are still there.

They simply different look and some things are in different places now compared to your Cubase 5... no longer always directly on the audio track itself.

open MIXER (Mix Console) and you can easily reach them from there

Here is the mixer screenshot from Cubase AI 7

NOTE: There are many ways to access INSERTS and SENDS. This is simply one of those many ways

Thank you so much for your kind replay, but I wasn't talking about inserts and sends. I was talking of a function (present in v5.1 and earlier) which allows to process single parts in a track using the plugins you have installed, that's making the process definitive, and not using any insert or send. This may sounds like a little thing, but in my case it was very useful since my computer doesn't have so much memory and modern plugins always absorbe more memory... :-(
I need to find some Cubase PRO user, since I've been told that this option is included only in the pro version, but I wasn't able to check it out yet, since I don't have any friend using Cubase pro...
    Cheers!

I was kind of being shy about it....I've been using it since the beginning of 2017. It's a great daw, I have to admit, but admiting it to you was tough for me. :). And I still use my other daws, but Cubendo offers a lot.

I had Cubase 5 and I left it because-for me- the worst device which is missing in Cubase (cheap or)Artist versions above Cubase 5 is the sidechain function.
I think sidechain is absolutely essential for modern music styles.Because of that I left it and I'm still working with Studio One v3,a very good Daw and far less expensive than Cubase Pro or Live, and is very efficient for music production.
However I would love to have the latest version of Cubase pro if it was a bit cheaper,it's so more beautiful and its stock plugins are better than Studio one ones.
For me the offline processing function you're talking about is not a reason to leave Cubase.
    Peace !

aha, it's surprising to read but we finally have some common grounds. It's a wonderfull tool, there isn't much to add although I had to ride it to feel the love, it does things extremely well but also extremely easily. And it's cool because some power users are on our forum. I'm gonna annoy the hell out of all of you with my questions.

Well its a big step for sure and can be quite overwhelming with so many tools that it offers, but i have read some of your posts and you know your stuff so you will get there pretty fast imo.
How come you decided to get it? Pure curiosity, you took it for a ride at a studio, or at a friend?

Thanks Von, I appreciate the compliment. A friend I work with wanted to convert me, to make things easier, and I'm guessing also because he loves it. I wasn't moving. Let's say he is as enthusiastic about that Daw as you, very insisting about it. So he bought me one. Can't say no to that. Well I would have (I already have three daws, so...), but it's a great daw. It's not the gift that got me, the fact that I didn't pay a dime for it, it's the tool that did. I kind of thought about you that day.. I said that to @Cav Emp who was already aware of my recent...conversion.

You certainly have great friends. A new update was released a few days ago if you havent seen it yet 9.0.20.
And there are some video tutorials for 9er on our sister site. Also if you will ever need a cubendo controller check out the steinberg cmc controllers, although discontinued you can find them cheap on ebay or on your local internet flea markets.

I know, I mean, who would have thought ? with my bright and shinny personality...

I grabbed the tuts for 9 (I just saw 9.0.20 was out, I havn't installed it yet, was about to) on AZ, even took some for 7 and 8 to cover all my bases. Thanks for the controllers tip, they do look usefull, I'll check if I can find a nice opportunity.

Lol, well we are artists, we are all somewhat damaged here.
Yea, usually the pd goes for cheap money though the most useful ones are ch and ai, qc is cool if you fiddle with synths a lot.
Good luck on your journey.
