I'm about to leave music production for 2 year straight for my post graduation degree becuase I'm not able to balance both of them as I need to study 14-16 hours straight everyday (2 exam, 1 year each + Internship).
I'm stuck, it's a big decision for me.
I just wanna know that will I be left behind with the technology & all the new techniques?
    What will be the consequences?

Couldn't you keep some refreshing moment when you'll be able to produce at least a little something or sketch ideas?

No. you´ll not be left behind - basic things will be exactly the same with a twist and that´s all!

The music scene is a very unsafe industry, so give your studies first prority and get a degree, whatever - you can always start making music after that!

In this 2 years, I dismounted from my twisted style to the most minimal one. Don't worry it's the kismet of electronic makers.

I think its too long. You have to hone your skills regularly, sure you can go away for like a month but after a while its risky, your ears get detrained from certain frequencies that right now you can easily identify.
Also if you produce music you might really lose the mojo for good.

I've been two years in hospitals due to an accident. A lot of my job-skills have vanished and I needed to learn a lot to get on track again. Ok, I'm not a professional musician, but it'll be the same or worse for a musician.
I would suggest - if there is any chance - to at least stay in touch.

And, I don't think you'll be able to follow up, if your job is as demanding as it seems.
So, you will have to decide, what's first. And perhapsm music will just be a hobby for the future (and that's great).

Only you can make that decision i guess :dunno:
There are consequences to every action but sometimes we all worry about things that don't ever materialise.
Music production will always be there for you and there is a lot to be said for getting the qualifications under your belt whilst your sometimes young enough to enjoy the experience and then have the chance to follow that career if you choose.
Hopefully your gonna have a lifelong, fun learning experience in music production whatever happens :)
The chance to study sometimes flies quickly as we get children and family commitments but there no right and wrong and general rules can always be circumvented.
As I said only you can decide what is right but I admire your work ethic and wish you well walking whichever path you choose.
One day you will hopefully have travelled both and enjoyed the experience to the fullest.
As long as you are passionate are and work hard I am sure you will be highly successful regardless of which path you follow.
Best of luck dude & have a cool journey  :mates::bow:

What new technology or techniques were discovered/made in the last two years? Hell even ten. People still use 909s and 808s lol
You might be a bit rusty when you come back, but I don't think you will ever forget how to make music

Do it, man. Take the sabbatical. You'll be absolutely fine. Get that head-u-cashion under your belt and if/when you want to come back, 2-3 weeks of familiarisation with any new stuff that cropped up in the meantime will have you up and running as if you had never been away.

    Remember the old motto...
    "Take a bucket of water.
Plunge your hands in, right up to the wrist.
    When you take them out
    the size of the hole
will be a measure of how much you're missed"

    ..simply ain't true.

Meanwhile, avoid becoming "demob happy". Make your last engagement in the Production biz an excellent one because (and this one is true) you're only as good as your last show. But you already knew that, right?
