Haha, I guess I'm a bit psychic too. I was not aware that the company is Brazilian, but had a 'feeling' that my post would come back and bite me on the ass. I guess the congas seemed related even if they weren't part of the series.

Awesome Griff, like usual. I'm mainly a guitar player, and never heard of Ritter Bass Guitars. But in 2010 they changed the company's name to Jens Ritter Instruments and notably, George Benson plays a guitar model they made for him. I've been schooled

 

Well, I don't play guitar (at all). Played (reasonably well) the upright bass a few years ago, but that's the extent of my 'strings' experience, man. Not many folks can stay with G. Benson. He's a master performer. He and my favorite guitarist of all time, Wes Montgomery.

 

They're a couple of my favourites as well. It's interesting you mention the two of them, as the Thumb was Benson's biggest influence (sure you already knew that). I would have to add Django to the mix, as he's the progenitor of (modern) octave playing on the guitar. I first heard of him though Hendrix mentioning him as a big influence. I really got into jazz because SRV covered a Kenny Burrell tune (another two of my favs), and the latter of course owes a big debt to Wes.

 

Django. His innovation and overall guitar genius is unquestioned. There have been so many terrific guitarists throughout the decades, the list is too numerous to recount. One standout that cannot go unmentioned is the great, Joe Pass.
